Cricket is killing or killed other sports successfully...........
by prasad pal on May 04, 2010 11:53 AM  | Hide replies

I believe every one here will agree that Cricket is killing or killed other sports successfully.

We were a huge force in HOCKEY not long ago. Where is hockey. Even a small team like Poland beat us and we indulge in fighting.

Couple of months Winter Olympics happened in Vancouver (correct me i am wrong). Many of our athletes don't have proper foot wear or clothing. The Indian Diaspora there raised funds and provided Food, Footwear, clothes, etc...Its a HUGE SHAME on the part of our GOVERNMENT AND THE SO CALLED SPORTS MINISTER Mr. GILL....What these guys are doing.....Nothing.....just eating our money and indulging in lavish life.....

It is NOT Cricket that is killing other sports.
It is Sheer lack of Sporting Culture
in India.
All Sporting Heads( Including Kalmadi)are interested in Lavish extraveganza mixing bollywood in the name and style of "Sport".
We Indians should be blame for watching Cricket extensively and ignoring other sporting activities.

Opening advantage lost

Even though he is leading, Anand has missed 2-3 opportunities to increase the lead when he had the white pieces. I hope he has enough juice to withstand the remaining games and pull-off a much awaited victory!!

Anand had white pieces in 4 of the 7 games, and he won 2 games (game no.2 and 4) with the white pieces. In the remaining 5 games, Topalov will play with white pieces in 3 games and Anand in 2 games.

make lalit modi chess commissioner !!!
by surajit som on May 04, 2010 10:36 AM  | Hide replies

in cricket you hit 50 or 100 and all indians know your name. but many indians may not know that an indian is world champion in chess and right now defending his title.

the attitude of the media is even more shameful. at least they can give some coverge to the event. may be lalit modi should be made chess commissioner !!! let him take his commission but at least he knows how to make things popular.

Oh! Is there a game called Chess? And an Indian, named Vishwanathan Anand, is the world champion? I have never seen any media reporting it, including the `breaking news' 24x7 electronic media! The only sportsperson I have heard of in India goes by the name of Sachin Tendulkar, who is supposed to have scored 30,000 international runs in a game called cricket, seriously played by 9 countries, but called `world' game by the media. Recently he was in the news for scoring a 200 in an one-dayer and everyone clamouring for Bharat Ratna to be given to him. Can someone tell me where I can read about other sports or which electronic news channel reports about other games other than cricket?
