Sports Minister MS Gill is taking good setp for the promotion of sports in the country.
As new regulation that seeks to limit the tenure of sports administrators has the backing of all political parties and is in fact a softer version of the original 1975 guideline.
Then what is the problem to Suresh Kalmadi. He only want to become lifetime president of IOA.

It will be better for the country and sports persons if Sports ministry will not take back its decision.

Sports Bodies must be governed by Law of the Land
by jibanendra mahanty on May 04, 2010 06:11 PM

It is time the Govt of India clips the wings of the President/Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer of all Sports Bodies of the Country. Each person can hold the position for maximum two terms and NO consecutive terms.
The same should, in all fairness, be applicable to our Politicians including the President, PM, Ministers and all Constitutional Heads.
Further the Sports bodies shall comprise only Sportsmen of State and National cadres. The sports bodies must not be used as Club House for the politicians.
Further there must be a Retiring age for all and 65 years should be considered as the Retiring age, and there should not be any extension.
If necessary, our Constitution should be amended to incorporate the above suggestions. The working of the Sports bodies shall of course comply with the requirements of International Sports Bodies.

Let all ministers who have been heading various sports answer 2 questions 1. How long have they been heading in the post, how much did they earn as heads and 2. What was their contribution and achievement. Dear Ministers look at Mr Lalit Modi, he turned the game into a massive entertainer and also earned a lot of revenue for the state & country. Should he be made the Sports Minister of India?????

give one or more sport to each head of service army, navy, airforce, bsf, assamriffles, nsg, itbp, crpf. Supported additionally be responsible to achieve one of the aims i.e. to win atleast one international event in the game by each one of them every year.Rotation will automatically be ensured. The present problem will be solved & no political interference will be there.

The decision is right
by sasidharan pooppotta on May 04, 2010 04:47 PM

In my opinion, limiting the period of sports administers upto 12 years is a right decision & if I'm correct, the age limit for retirement is 70. This means an administrator should retire at this age in any case. This is all the more important. There should be a time for retirement in all the fields including in politics. If it (decision on retirement) is left to the individuals, then I'm sure majority in India will `serve' the country as long as they can stand with the help of a stick !
