Kalmadi's Konfusion
by Nitin on May 04, 2010 02:19 PM

Mr Gill, you better be careful now, if Mr Kalmadi screws ups the commonwealth games he and the other NSF head will blame you for it. Can't you see Mr Gill they are busy meeting and focusing on getting maximum medals in the commonwealth games. How dare you disturb them? they will lose focus. For the past 60 years they have been working hard, due to their hard work for the past 60 years we have won few medals in the Olympics....5 medals (forget hockey)till now, that

All hocus pocus
by rajendra agrawal on May 04, 2010 01:17 PM

What's new in all this hocus pocus? These "innane" things have kept happening regularly since independence, even by educated and rich leaders, because the Indian citizens have neither time nor patience nor shamelessness to clean these "small Augean stables". Therefore, "andher nagri chaupat raja" continues and flourishes.

Kalmadi's rant
by Dilip Mahanty on May 04, 2010 05:22 AM

Kalmadi and his ilk have ruled the roost for a long time. Indian sport has not improved during their tenure inspite of crores of rupees being poured into their coffers.Olympic medals won so far by Indian athletes have been largely through individual search for excellence. Kalmadi & Co have been hinderances rather than help! The power, prestige and the money which is at the disposal of these petty politicians must be heady! No wonder they do not want to part with the milch cow! It is high time that these self seekers are shown the door and replaced with professionals who have the capacity to advance sports in India.

save the sport
by toby joseph on May 03, 2010 10:54 PM

The sports minister is on the right path. It is hightime that these worthless people who have been parasites of the sport federation are replaced by former sports people having knowledge and understanding of the game. Politicians and these babus have ruined the indian sport ever since independence . We need revolutionaries who can infuse new blood in the system . I hope the sports minister succeeds

Whose autonomy are these politicians protecting?
by Talisman on May 03, 2010 10:46 PM

Get rid of these bums. These bums like Kalamadi et. all have been sitting on the chair for years for the free perks. These bums don't care about india.

I support the sports ministry 100 percent and say get rid of the bums. We need new people that are motivated to lead India's Olympic efforts and Cycling and other places. These bums that are occupying the chair need to go.

why is india poor in sports
by daita viswanath on May 03, 2010 10:42 PM  | Hide replies

I seriously wonder if someone followed the fortunes of Indian sport and Mr. Kalmadi. Both of them are in complete opposite directions. Sports went south and Mr. Kalmadi's fortunes up north. Any person with basic understanding will come to this conclusion. However, their personal fiefdoms are not to be touched. For probably questioning their authority, Mr. Iyer was asked to quit. How long can we tolerate this brazen violation and keep quite at the shame and indignity we are met at every major sporting event. The only one which we probably are the top are probably the SAF games and nothing else or those that involve, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, (here in atheletics we are found wanting).
We complain about beggars and children on the street. If they are so wonderfully talented people sitting at the helm, they should have taken these orphan children on the roads and could churn out winners from them. Those poor children could have decent life and proper food and education if some one at the top took it as their responsibility about how we can win medals. We however concentrate on how short a skirt Sania Mirza wears, and some one who plays tennis worse than a beginner in that game. She is such a pain to watch,Alas we think she is the best thing to have happened to Indian tennis. What a tragedy of sorts!!!!
Mr. Kalmadi you have screwed Indian sport. Please sir Get Lost and let the Indian sport prosper without you at the helm!!!
May there be divine providence!!!!

Get out Kalmadi
by jinu george on May 03, 2010 10:42 PM

I dont know the real motive of sports ministry with MS Gill at its helm. But one thing is for sure though reporting to international federations constitutionally, all National sports federations as long as representing India, obliged to obey Sports ministry through which they gets the Govt fund. It is not your family property. Let others be given a chance. Get out Kalmadi. V.K Verma, Adhityan,K. P. S. Gill, D V Sunder and all should follow
