Always foreign coaches, foreign things.. what is Indian ?

Hockey is India's national game and we now look for a small country like Spain (who probably learnt hockey from us or one of the Asian countries) to teach us in our backyard.

What has Indian sport come to ?

For everything we need foreign coaches. We have this craving for foreign things always.

For cricket we need foreign coach from South Africa. For hockey we need foreign coach from Spain.

We have more than 1 billion population and such distinguished sportsmen and women in our country who have performed so well for us. What happened to our former Olympians in hockey ? 8 times India won Gold medal in Olympics. We also won World Cup once in 1975. Is there not a single player amongst those great hockey stars of India who can coach Indian team.

Everybody speaks Hindi in Indian team. So how can a Spaniard communicate so well as someone who is an Indian man ? Someone who can speak and communicate clearly with team , understand the Indian needs, Indian conditions , people of India better is needed. Surely one of those great Golden Indians of Indian hockey can be asked to coach India or atleast be Assistant Coach or trainer.

We Indians should stop hanging our tongue out at foreign things and foreign maal. We should look inside our vast country for talent and be PROUD to use Indian resources.
No foreign country has Indian coaches.. So why we need them?
Our India is very rich. we only need to look and unearth talent - be it in any field. Not just hockey

We need them bcoz they are profesionals and focused!!

We Indian go into politics and egoistic issues and are not focused.

We lack commitment and are always ahead to criticize, as you are rightly doing...

We Indian should work towards finding solution, rather than creating and finding problems....

Please stop highlighting Problems....Find solution....

It happens.

Ganesh first of all you should understand onething, sports like Football, Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball have changed a lot. Now it is all become fitness and power oriented whereas in India we still following old training method which is based on tactics. Hockey olympians still depend on the old methods of training which is not suitable for the current Hockey scenario. All the Indian coaches like Cedric desousa, V.Bhaskaran, carvello etc have failed to lift our team. Except olympian kausik non of the olympian coaches can deliver a good result. Reason being the same as above. It is essential for the team like India to have a foreign coach, Physiotherapist etc., to deliver result. Same you can see in our Football Team Where national team started giving good results under Mr. Bob Houghten (qualified for Asia Cup after 25years).

Exactly. We were good in hockey till 70s. But since then we have been lagging behind because we could not change with the way the game changed. Our coaches were allergic to new methods/ technologies and this led to serious downfall. Our coaches and administrators were too much region specific and they had problems with players of other regions of the country. The dominance of Punjab due to bog boss from there alienated hockey players from UP,MP and Bihar who who have given most of the world class hockey players. Our neighbors did much better and they won 2 World cups on Polygrass. Please do not go on their recent performance which a mere reflection of the political conditions in their country.

Brasa has been able to do 3 very very important things:
1. The team is able to play some long passes effectively.
2. The team is able to play till end of the match with never say die approach.
3. The team is now playing like a single unit on the field.

Things are in first stage, and if they continue they could reach to the level of Australia, Germany, Spain, Holland. We need Brasa for the next 4 years to achieve this.

On infrastructure side we are very poor. Holland has over 225 registered hockey clubs, 900 hockey stadiums and over 10000 hockey players registered and the game is played throughout the year. Germany, Australia, Spain are not far behind.

I like this man..

I like this man.. Very honest and upright. I think he is the best man to take Indian hockey back to where it was, to the top! But our useless administration needs to be dumped and replaced. KPS Gill sucked out all the blood out of Indian Hockey and now Suresh Kalmadi is squeezing whatever is remaining. Let someone with hockey experince head the Hockey federation in India.

God knows, when our media will learn to forget cricket and focus on other sports. All day IPL IPL.. its getting sick!

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT
by Devendra Gad on Mar 19, 2010 10:26 AM

tell all the useless administrators including ministers and politicians and their chamchas to get lost and stay away from any kind of intereference in the game of HOCKEY which was once our Nation's PRIDE.
Unfortunately everybody wants to milk and practice corruption at the cost of the game.
You are right Mr Brasa - Kick all these joker administrators and ask thm to leave you and the players alone so we can capture our lost glory. And please give us results
