CRICKET, AS SAID BY SOME PLAYERS IN THE PAST, IS THE MOST RELAXING AND SLOW GAME WHEREAS TAKE IT TENNIS, BADMINTON ETC. ARE FAST AND FURIOUS. HOW CAN CRICKET BE COMPARED TO ANY OTHER GAMES WHICH IS PLAYED BETWEEN FEW 6-7 COUNTRIES INCLUDING BEGGAR COUNTRIES LIKE INDIA, BANGLADESH, PAKISTAN, SRI LANKA, AFGHANISTAN EXCLUDING 3 COUNTRIES I.E. ENGLAND, AUSTRALIA AND SOUTH AFRICA WHICH IS THEIR PET GAME TO PASS AND WHILE AWAY DAYS TOGETHER. PLAYERS HAVE ENOUGH TIME IN BETWEEN TO RELAX AND PLAY SHOTS OR BOWL. WHEN FOOTBALL, TENNIS ETC. DOES NOT PROVDIDE THE PLAYERS AMPLE TIME TO EVEN SIT AND RELAX. THEREFORE, TENDULKAR CANNOT BE CALLED THE BEST SPORTMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD. IN CRICKET WORLD, ITS OKAY, BUT NOT COMPARING THE WHOLE LOT OF OTHER GAMES. ENGLAND BROUGHT CRICKET TO THOSE COUNTRIES WHERE THEY RULED JUST TO PASS TIME WITH THE RULERS WHERE RULERS WITH BIG TUMMY TO KEEP THEM BUSY AND MAKING FRIENDSHIP. EVEN MAKING MAHARAJAS HAPPY BY MAKING THEM WIN PURPOSEFULLY.

Cricket is played between Two Countries, where as Golf, Tennis F1 Athletics are ALWAY( All Tournaments)played among Top 20 players. Sachin has faced Top 20 only in World Cup, Had Sachin gaced Top 20 Every time he Would NEVER had scored 47 Centuries. Cricket is Baby in front of Global Sporting Events. Cricket never faces Top compitition in Every Test.Sachin is NOT AT ALL Global Sporting ICON..

If you want to celebrate cricket .. pls do it in your own playing country. Pls do not bring Cricket out of your world. Its a great joke to compare DLF IPL to EPL, Indian champions league to UEFA champions league and a great joke to compare Sach1n with Bolt, Phelps, Federer etc.

even lalu prasad has entertained a billion people for over 20 years, he then deserves a bharat ratna by your yardstick, be global and think about the whole world, if you had said vishy anand i would have even thought of since chess is a global game, but cricket is still a game played primarily by commonwealth nations
First, Congrats Bolt for getting Very Prestigious Laureus Award. Mirka Federer missed the Bus. Roger Federer won the award Four Times in row, Mirka ( Now Wife)was his Girl Friend at that time, Had Roger won the award this time Mirka would have been " FIRST LADY " of Entire Sporting world ...since Award is Truly Global. It carries special Status as "First Lady" Remember many Award winners are UNMARRIED when selected/nominated. Roger Federer was nominated this time and Mirka missed the bus to become Coveted " First Lady" !!!!! better luck Mirka next time.

Not sure is that is the case. Aussies won the "Team of the year" award some time back, and btw, are F-1, Baseball played all over the world?

I guess it is a right decision as it is not easy to win each and every race with a world record. This guy is doing it day in and day out. If you really know even Roger in an interview said that he had voted for Usain as the best sportsman.
