Vishwanathan Anand is truly a great Indian. We have not an idea what he has done for India for the world of chess. He put us on world stage as a champion.
He could have make Indians proud if he has defeated Gary Casparov. But he is a pigmy in front of that genious. Afterwards when there was no Casparov or Carpov, he won tournament. He is a looser & that is why nobody recognizes him & he does not earn like Dhoni or Yuvi (forget Sachin..he is a god).

Dude he is true GEM. He is undisputed world camp and former world no 1. He had successes against Kasporov and Karpov. It is not his fault that Kasporov is not playing chess. None of ur fav cricketers are world champs. T20 world cup was fluke. U know wht happened in next edition

As though India is the land of opportunities. Get over it, man. There is no value for hard work and talent in India. There is corruption everywhere and people are biased in terms of caste, region, language, religion etc. I dont blame anyone who leaves for better opportunities.

no offense...but this just shows your ignorance...most of the chess tournaments happen in western europe. Anand has said this many times before..it helps him to avoid flight travel and he tries to minimize flight travel as much as he can..for your info, most part of western europe is just within driving reach...and this has made him to stay in Spain....if and when significant number of chess tournaments are held in India, he would move to India..(with a country which only worships cricket, what more can u expect?!..no patronage for home-grown games like hockey and chess!!)

yes I agree with aua. What's the problem if Vishy stays in Spain? Though he stays there he plays for India. I feel proud when I see our Indian flag is placed on the tables where ever he plays across the globe. When he wins all the kudos goes to India. he has done tjhe country proud many times & has become the inspiration for many chess players in india. He stays in Spain to get highest standard of training & practice which is not possible in India.

The only sportsperson who deserves Bharat Ratna other than Tendulkar.
