The unfair ban imposed on Shivendra Singh by the Australian referee hurt India's chances in the World cup. I wonder why we are always at the receiving end of referees. What can be done about it.

Yes. In form Shivendra is the best player for India and his exclusion led to 5-2 defeats against Australia and Spain. When he came back, the strength of India was visible against England. He also scored the equalizer goal in dying moments against SA to save the defeat.
It's always whether cricket or Hockey, whenever we won match against PAK, we lost in next game and could not recovered after. Wish if we would have lost against PAK and won the WC
What happened to the Youngsters in the team. Most of them are over 30s and struggling to run.
Bring up some new pillars of strength for the defence. Jus advertising with Youngsters will not help. Not bringing up younsters so will not encourage people to even watch a match..
Hockey needs a change... Btw I was looking only all names ending with Singhs in the team.. No Southies or West ?

Organize coaching camps all over the country.. Bring up a young team parallely. Forget Internal politics and find a way out as IPL does. Even though they do bussiness - talen too grows

It was nice to see Indian hockey right from the beginning... really improved one... especially against Pak and against England. If we had atleast 1-2 penalty corner specialists, the result could be different. We had lot expectation from the south hero "Arjun Halappa", but we hardly found him on the field. Give more importance to hockey! Don't polute this great game by politics If we improve hockey in our country... It will lead to improve other game as well as athletics.. Cricket is taking everything.... don't let it happen!

for yu sir ,have spent long time abroad,as yu think hockey never is a very popular game in a country like england but yu will be amazed by their performance , i request yu to goto their schools and see the facilities thay have and the stadiums govt support grants and scholarships they get and thay have it in every coirner of their country. it looks like from yur comments that india is a great cricketing nation. to me not as they consistenly fail abroad and can evento bangladeh.....WELL to hockey to inprove we need good stadums and motivation, unfortunately our stadiums are good only fr political rallied and i wonder when the govt now reserve seats fr minorites in sports also.......indian hockey is a dog,s tail in the pipe

I have Watched all the games played by India the way the players were playing it reminded SRK movie Chak de India Where the players were not giving passes to other players. India Playing Spain Reminded me the most i think Indians were very gud for Spain. but lack of coordination paid us. Thru pass were not seen many a time only one player is dribling with oponents and others indian players were just standing and see how he dribbles and contrary spanish were three to four to snatch the ball. I think Indian players have not perform according to their Talent.
I am sure, the people must be dissapointed with the performance. But I am happy, there is a improvement in proformance. There is always a blame on sustem that the system has spoilt our National Hockey. No, its we who is responsible, we as parents never encourage our kids to paly Hockey. Hockey which is our National Sport is facing the same plight like our national Animal "TIGER". We need ot encourage our kids to start with Hockey, I am sure a person who can play mordern field Hockey can now play any game. We have one good eg. Jonty Rodhes, he played field hockey for South Africa. Then we need to have lots of Astor turf and the kid should be trained not on natural turf but Astor turf. Thats where the basic would be developed. Its like Sena and MNS shouting for marathi language but the MArathi manus wants his child to study in english school. Last we won olympic Gold at 1980 Moscow. In between we had losts of ups and downs, we did win the Azlan Shah (Prestigious Tournament) Asian Games, and even Champions Trophy. Both Pakistan and India we are facing the same reason, encouragement for the sport by citizen and then proper infrastructure. The anothe big problem is the inconsistent rules. Europeans have manages the federation is such a way that they make rules according tho their convinience. Its like Aus dominaiton is ICC. but now with more Indian in ICC we have increased stake. Thats what is requireds.

from 10th ranking to 7th or 8th spot is definately an improvement. But India needs to win consistently to gain support from mass public. remember we beat paki and paki is at the bottom of the table....they will sure cry foul in a day or 2......or their coach will be murdered like in the cricket world cup.
