What did Fifa do to deserve this? Indian sports bodies are run by politicians that are fat and cannot move. Now, we all know how much they can help the sports?
Fifa is not running a clumsy an shadowy organization like BCCI that makes use of the name of India and allows fat politicians to lineup their pockets.
It is a legitimate sports organization that has some policies.

But it should not happen in the manner as it happened in Hockey. The counter attack of India in one of the matches was ruled out as it was sent to referral...
England = India France = Pakistan Spain = South Africa Argentina = Australia of today Brazil = Australia of 90s Germany = Australia of today Portugal = England of Ashes 2005 Holland = Sri Lanka Italy = New Zealand Uruguay = Less than England, more than New Zealand

why compare to cricket ? there's no precedence of cricket in football. because one goal can change the complexion of the game by either teams.
Re: Re: .

exactly. Why to compare Cricket. Infact England had it been given the goal, I am sure England would not have attacked all out leaving the Goalie alone. That paved the way for Germany to counter attack with little ease.
Poor England. But though they have not been playing well, which Germany was equally bad in the league matches. I pity for Mexico, unfortunately they met up with Arg in the round 16.. Really good team. Japan also played superb. Cheers, Murali

Yes that decision was devastating. It changed the entire equation... but at the same time the England defenders were pathetic. The John Terry, one of the world's most respected defender was clueless of what he was doing. Infact the first goal was his mistake.
Why do these technophobes think the human element is out with the introduction of video analysis. Have the infrared cameras and video replays taken out the human element in tennis or cricket?
In fact, more people have started walking in cricket (after being out) than ever because they know they would be caught on the big screen lying.
FIFA is hypocritical when it says it does not want to rely on video cameras for any decision-making. Have they forgotten that the referee had NOT EVEN SEEN the Zidane headbutt against Matterazzi in last 2006, until the video cameras finally showed the replays.
It was only then that the referee decided to red card Zidane. So, the video-based decision-making is already there along with the human element.

It is a must. FIFA should introduce the goal-line technology at the earliest. It will not ruin the game. After all only two or three minutes are to be spared for reference. The human error spoiled a classic contest(UK X Germany)The decision not to retain those referees is fine. Let them officiate in Kerala's Sevens Football tournaments which may give them some RICH AND HOT RETURNS!

Its easy to introduce the stuff in cricket as there is a gap in between the balls where as in football the game is always on. So it could be tricky to introduce the video and stuff in football, spl. with the possiblity of counter attacks in picture at each attack.

Arent there stoppages every time somebody commits a foul or handball or if there is an altercation between players, or if there is confusion in who kicked whom, or who threw the ball out?
Stoppages happen every other minute in football. The time is added after the mandated 909 minutes of play, so there is no problem in introducing video-based decision-making at all.
Majority of FIFA agrees, but implementing changes take years. Surely, it will be implemented.
