Only 4 teams can qualify from Asia/Australia continents... While 7 teams from North/South American continents.. 5 teams from Africa & 12 from Europe...!! FIFA needs to consider for more teams participation in WC..!! So,... its hard to qualify for Football WC in Asia... Just 4 teams from more than 50 contries...!!

It is 5 not 4. This WC had Japan, S Korea, N Korea, Aussie and Kiwis. 5 Teams from South America and 3 teams from Central and North America and 6 Teams from Africa.
England = India France = Pakistan Spain = South Africa Argentina = Australia of today Brazil = Australia of 90s Germany = Australia of today Portugal = England of Ashes 2005 Holland = Sri Lanka Italy = New Zealand Uruguay = Less than England more than New Zealand

not agree today's australia is much strong in cricket (no 1 in odi and world cup winners in 2007,2003,1999) france in football again stronger than pakistan in cricket, new zeland is weak team in cricket , italy is WC 2006 winner in football
Why do these technophobes think the human element is out with the introduction of video analysis. Have the infrared cameras and video replays taken out the human element in tennis or cricket?
In fact, more people have started walking in cricket (after being out) than ever because they know they would be caught on the big screen lying.
FIFA is hypocritical when it says it does not want to rely on video cameras for any decision-making. Have they forgotten that the referee had NOT EVEN SEEN the Zidane headbutt against Matterazzi in last 2006, until the video cameras finally showed the replays.
It was only then that the referee decided to red card Zidane. So, the video-based decision-making is already there along with the human element.
Author hoped that Best would win today.. & picked Spain & Japan to win today's games... But, in 1st game, Japan is already out (though it played superbly, it missed lot of opportunities on the field), i m not wonder if spain will go to home tonight too... Football is a great unpredictable sports in the world, where ranking does nothing in the final results...!! Great Game is coming now... between Spain v/s Portugal. Also, biggest game of this WC will be Brazil v/s Argentina. I love both the teams... so, i think who ever wins that game will gonna eventual winner of this WC..

Brazil is No.1(Consistant too) in Football..India is not No.1 in Cricket
They have made a easy path but any team would be easy for them.
Don't forget, they had Portugal the only undefeated team in this WC since qualifying rounds in their league stage and they topped the table to get a easy path.
Not much comments on worlds' biggest (sports?) event? The bloggers don't miss opportunities to fill the spaces in rediff with hate comments be it against political parties or religious groups or individual. Sporting activities could calm them down

biggest sports in other countries not in India. Go US, u will find football not even in top 10 sports.. And, they make themselves proud. don't run behind what others are following, try to be good what you enjoy and respect this.
the way they tamed Chile. Brazil plays better than Argentina..Chile looked like a bunch of ametures in front of the Giants..Brazilian type of football is a pleasure to watch, any time..

This is world cup.. you may get surprises in every corner... and more over Uruguay, Ghana or Japan can be gaint killer and it was not a smooth path for them. Like Argentina vs Cameroon Match in 1990 or France vs Senegal in 2002.... It will not be a surprise if Brazil or Agentina fails to be in final.
