Technology

The technology should be used to challenge decisins only inside the penalty boxes. Football is different from tennis or cricket where frequent stops are gets along well with the game. On the other hand frequent stops in football would kill the game itself.

Why do these technophobes think the human element is out with the introduction of video analysis. Have the infrared cameras and video replays taken out the human element in tennis or cricket?

In fact, more people have started walking in cricket (after being out) than ever because they know they would be caught on the big screen lying.

FIFA is hypocritical when it says it does not want to rely on video cameras for any decision-making. Have they forgotten that the referee had NOT EVEN SEEN the Zidane headbutt against Matterazzi in last 2006, until the video cameras finally showed the replays.

It was only then that the referee decided to red card Zidane. So, the video-based decision-making is already there along with the human element.

FIFA is totally in denial, sorry.

FIFA seems more asinine than Indian bureaucrats in opposing change.

In fact if weaker teams were being benefited then it seems ok to not use technology all the wrong decisions were in favor of the stronger teams (Argentina, Germany) .. There is no fun element at all in this version of world cup .. I would suggest the next world cup should be larger have 64 teams and knockout from first day

WHY DO YOU NEED TECHNOLOGY?
by Robert Rajan on Jun 29, 2010 02:14 AM  | Hide replies

The area behind the goal post line could be layered with fine and soft sand so that when the ball lands on any spot in this area the ball would get stuck or would softly rebound leaving a mark on the sand pit.(Like playing tennis on a clay court surface).

But then what about offsides, Handlballs and several other fouls comited which refrees fail to notice or judge wrongly? What is wrong with use of technology when the refrees or linemen are in doubt themselves?

FIFA refusal to use modern tech sounds its intention to have controversies and wanting to do permanent injustice to playing nations and to make live audience to be fools .The governing board of FIFA deserve to be overthrown or else a rival Assn be formed which will adopt modern gadgets and reduce the whimsical role of the referees just as in cricket
