Germany - Nederlands..But i guess nobody would complain about Brazil Argentina. But somehow i fel this brazil team doesnt quite have that quality. Difficult to pass the quarterfinal hurdle for them.

Germany VS Spain in final is not possible, becasue both of these teams can meet only in the Semi-finals....

My feeling is,the final would be between : Netherland Vs Spain

Eng lost their way bcoz of Poor decision on Lampard's goal
by Ramachandran KA on Jun 28, 2010 02:21 PM  | Hide replies

Germany is a powerful team and now their attacking is also a treat to watch...But still yesterday's win was also with the help from the refree....If Lampard's Equalizer (which is a perfect goal) got counted, then the score at first half would be 2-2,so that England might do counter-atatck in the later half and it might turn the game.....because of that wrong decision from refree,England lost their way.....
England Don't worry....yeaterday Germany was played with 12 players(including the refree).....

no doubt the decision went against england but if u think england could have won the match, ur dreaming, man. germany was totally dominating and towards the end, actually took their foot off the pedal and didn't press hard for more goals as they cleary had chances to do so. It is ridiculous to say that had the Lampard goal been allowed, then Germany wudn't have applied more pressure or that Mueller wudn't have scored those goals in the 2nd half!

Agree...but there is one element in football thats very crucial to the outcome of a match. Do u know that most times a team that scores the first goal then goes on to win the match ? It might not happen everytime but I would say almost 75% of the time. And in such a knockout game(it was not the points phase mind u ), every team will be forced to trade attack for defence. And even a small error by the forwards will result in a devastating counter attack. If u notice the last 2 goals were almost 'free for all', bcos the other half was almost empty with only the goalie to take care of. This is where the crucial referee error comes into play. Had it been 2-2 even Germany could not have played the way it did, and the result could have gone any way. But all the same I agree, overall Germany were better yesterday, and made look England far worse than they otherwise would be.

But by ur own logic, even England could not have attacked if there was a stalemate 2-2. I think its just about the team which was able to capitalise on opportunities. Having seen Rooney and Defoe in this WC, one can safely say that the Germans wud always have better chances of converting.

STRANGE conincidence: it was bad KARMA for england. In 1966 worldcup final, England was lucky to get a goal in a similar fashion against the germans, where the ball hit the inside of the cross bar and didnt cross the line. But the referee gave them a goal. Its the famous "Ghost Goal" of 1966 final. So england got the taste of their own medicine...

I don't think it has anything to do with Karma. If anyone should get bad karma, its the referee. Bcoz in 1966 and this year, its the referee who took the call and erred. English players cannot make a referee take a decision.

Why FA association are not allowing england players (ROONEY, LAMPARD, GERARD, FERDINAND, JOE COLE) to play in foreign clubs like BUNDESLIGA, SPANISH LEAGUE, OR LA LIGA? Beckham is exception but i think he is not to be blamed as soccer is a team sport.

If the goal was give, if score was leveled, if the ball had not been saved, if the ball had not hit the bar.........etc.
The score card gives clear verdict. German 4, England 1.
England were totally blown out. Germans showed that England are no where near great teams. They are just Premier League hyped team.
So stop saying ifs and buts as to the media reports.

Hi Sameer and Rahul,
Not sure if you both are the same, but you have been posting the same message on several discussions. You can claim anything, but we are not the best people to judge.

I would like you guys to go to SA and support germany in their quaterfinal match, among the german fans. Try singing their anthem when argentina pots one. Tell us then if those german fans think you guys to be german. I think germans are one of the most intelligent communities and would be able to spot any colour changes owing to being closer to the equator.

I am not sure whether SA is playing England. When last checked they were down 6 wickets for 285 on Day 2 of a test match with WI. It looks remotely likely that they choose to play England later on!!

Not quite sure that Argentina will 'crush' them. They might scrap through a victory. I am looking forward to a scrappy match. But based on how they played their respective pre-quarters I think Germany is just a little ahead.

German looks ahead because England were denied Goal(equalizer ).
This demoralised English Team, which otherwise was going strong.
Argentina is Slightly ahead and Final result will be 2-1 favouring Messi & co.
Even on Penalty Argentina looks 5-4 ahead.

Don,

England is a left over team with only big names, who are known to underperform on the big stage.
They are more concerned about their pay packets & social life & status.
Germany was far ahead of England yesterday & Lampard's disallowed goal was only unfortunate.Had that been given, you could have expected the Germans to come back harder & probably score 2 more goals !!1

I won't predict a result. However coming to yesterday's match I think England were indeed good in the first half and might have been demoralised but Germany were still the better team even in the first half. There tactical supremacy is underlined by the fact they were 2-0 up by the 35th minute and God only knows what could have been the case with 2-2 score line at half time, Germany were clearly the dominant force. Argentina could find the going a little tough as it is the first top 10 team they are going to face, their defense is a little weak and German defense is quite resilient. I think Germany is ahead. It will a game of playmaking/skill vs planned aggression/tactical counter-attack.

Are you assistant of Maradona , why so much in favour of Argentians ? atleast because of Germany , indirectly we got support to achieve independence because of World war II, who were against Englishmen. so decide who should win the Germans or Argentina

both germany and argentina were lucky to win yesterday (lampard's disallowed goal and tevez's first goal was clearly offside). Also mexico defender rosario gifted Higuain the 2nd argentina goal. In my opinion it wud have been 1-1 draw for argentina-mexico. Thus, Lucky Loew and Magic Maradona are in the Q/fs....
