SPETER ROEBUCK, SPORTSTAR It has been an incredible journey , a trip that figures alone cannot define. Not that the statistics lack weight. To the contrary they are astonishing, almost mind-boggling. Tendulkar has scored an avalanche of runs, thousands upon thousands of them in every form of the game. He has reached three figures 87 times in the colours of his country, and all the while has somehow retained his freshness, somehow avoided the mechanical, the repetitive and the predictable...

It's never been hard for him to play cricket - the hard part will be stopping

In part he has lasted so long because there has been so little inner strain. It's hard to think of a player remotely comparable who has spent so little energy conquering himself. Throughout, Tendulkar has been able to concentrate on overcoming his opponents...

And there has been another quality that has sustained him, a trait whose importance cannot be overstated. Not long ago Keith Richards, lead guitarist with the Rolling Stones, was asked how the band had kept going for so long, spent so many decades on the road, made so many records, put up with so much attention. His reply was as simple as it as telling. "We love it," he explained, "we just love playing." And so it has always been with Tendulkar. It's never been hard for him to play cricket. The hard part will be stopping. But he will take into retirement a mighty record and the knowledg

If Brazil trash Portugal by a good margin, and Ivory Coast do the same to N. Korea, then Ivory Coast have a slim chance of getting into the next round.

great to watch playing samba boys
by Sanjay Bhadra on Jun 25, 2010 05:12 PM  | Hide replies

The way brazil plays, its really a nice treate for the audience like we india. They keep their game very very simply, shorter and accurate pass. Its like a puzzle game. I am following the samba guys since last 3 world cup, I feel they neve get panic in difficult situation which shows theor confident. This year they are not yet looking like any extra ordinary then the team Argentina, but team like brazil have the capability to win the cup, even if they play their normal game. They are looking like a team consist of 11 plays, rather then 11 players made the team type. in 1994 when they plyed 1-3-4-3 theory, they were quite effective but this time they don't have accurate striker like last two world cup. because this time its seems like they are playing nicely in the mid field, but in the panalty region of the opposite team, they are unable to strick the ball well. lets see what will happen.
My support is with BRAZIL ... what about u guys?

Brazilian supporters have the habit of Promoting their team even if they don't consist of world beaters atleast this team. Most of Brazilian supporters hardly knows anything about their game or their players their history they are manufactured supporters due to intense media hype and Promotion.Just compare man to man Brazil with Argentina they are no where is there anybody in the brazilian team that can match Messi a big no is the answer.Just compare the remaining players also u will get ur answer.I support Argentina and will support them against Brazil who are just media hyped Monsters who have been lucky not to play Argeentina in the past 3 world cups otherwise they would have been packed to their home long back.

dear nikhil

u convenient forget that this same Argentina including ur Gr8 Messi was comprehensively beaten twice by BRAZIL during their qualification round....so man to man though Argentina edges above...they still are not a match for the five time world champions....

OK that's right but why do u want to compare a qualification match with a World cup match ,do u think that Argentina would have played their best possible 11 in those matches and moreover the players would have been totally tired due to to and fro traveling from Europe to Argentina, and there are lots of other factors which affect those matches. If u want to be selective in ur results then i can also help u remember that Loss Brazil suffered in the Olympics final against Argentina. So please don't hype Brazil as they are already over hyped.

So u admit Man to Man Argentina are better than Brazil so trust me in this it's only a matter of time Brazil will be shown it's rightful place and that's below Argentina and that moment is going to come very very soon.Just wait and watch.

For u Mr.Pele seems to be the greatest Footballer in the planet ever, so i cannot do anything abt it.For ur info Pele played only in the Brazilian and US league whilw a player like Maradona has played throughout the world and proved himself. Please come ou of your well and don't think everybody in the world thinks Brazil has the best team,Best player etc.

Pele has played in Four World Cup without any exposure to the Eoropean style, unlike your Maradona. He and his team has earned 3 World Cups.Unfortunatly in 1966, where Pele' was brutualy fouled. Brazil has again repeated the same feat in 1994 and 2002.

These figure are distant dream for Maradona and Argentina.

You better stay with your illusions and dreams in fool's paradise... BEST OF LUCK
