queen's talk !!
by Kd Narang on Jun 25, 2010 09:34 AM

Queen visited Centre Court after 33 years.
She asked Martina Navratilova --
"Have you played Wimbledon often ?" to which Navratilova humbly answerd "Yes"
Can't blame Queen.
Queen, Prince Charles both have General apathy /Lack of Interest for Sports.
Only (Late)Lady Diana, Prince Harry & William have developed interest in sport.

Longest match....
by naren tyagi on Jun 25, 2010 07:15 AM  | Hide replies

Whay can't the 5th set too have a tie breaker...what exactly is the logic behind not having a tie breaker in the 5th set? Is this across all grand slam tournaments ?

It is not a case of logic. More to do with fairness of play. Tie breakers were invented in 1965 and introduced in 1971 in Wimbledon. And except for US Open in all other Slams the deciding set is always (5th for men and 3rd for women) decided in favour of he person who has more break-of-serves. It is just the traditional way of finding the victor. And I think it is fair too.

Did u even watch the match before labelling them dumb? I think it is you who is dumb as the entire tennis fraternity is hailing it as the best match ever- not just because of the time but becuase of the quality of tennis displayed. Its a crying shame when idiots like u who have never picked up a raquet in your entire pathethic lives, resort to labelling warriors as 'dumb'.

I will tresure this match for a long time to come as much as the 2001 winner Goran Ivanisevic five set classic semi-final spanned over 3 days. That was perhaps the best thing ever.

Few people know that Somdev DevVarman has beaten this guy Isner for 2 consecutive times to bag the US Collegiate trophy for 2 years.

Good match guys. I feel sorry for the Frenchman

Will Isner have strength to play 2nd round match ?
by Kumar on Jun 24, 2010 11:51 PM

I dont know how can John Isner play in the 2nd round and have a chance to win after playing for 11 hrs to win the 1st round match.

Will he have strength to play and compete at the highest level?

Hey, its simple.

In Wimbledon, you have tie breakers only for sets 1 thru 4, but not for 5th set. To win the game one player has to break the other players service game & win the match.

John Isner & Mahut played 11 hrs because, in the 5th set they couldnt break each others game until their points were 70 - 68 when Isner finally broke Mahut & won the match.

It is because it was decided that there will not be a tie-breaker in the final game.

Also, this not a Final Match. Its a 1st round match and they played for 3 days as they had to stop because of bad light the previous 2 days.

looks like a fix , so that wimbledon gets more ratings than WCS

70-68 is too much to believe. looks like a fix , so that wimbledon gets more ratings than WCSoccer. every game has it's followers, but getting the general crowd watch the game is key.
