1) When a penalty is being taken, players from both sides can only stand along our outside the arc and the penalty area. Once the kick is executed i.e. the ball leaves the striker's boot, other players can rush in.
2) In that case, lots are taken to decide who moves ahead...horrible but true!

I think head-to-head is also taken into account. If team A and B have the all same but A had defeated B A qualifies.

1. The D is the goalkeeper area, he cannot handle the ball out of the D. Also any fouls committed inside the D is a penalty (outside D is a free-kick)
2. yes head to head is taken into consideration, if it was a draw, then country rankings comes into play.

Most Boring Side
by sushil naik on Jun 22, 2010 03:56 PM  | Hide replies

EPL has given the England teams boys the riches and playing for their country is secondary to them. (The same as the IPL has done to our cricket wonderboys). While playing for England they have lot of ego issues and dont play as a unit. They play a boring type of footbal and are horrible to watch. It is better to see the games involving Spain, Portugal, Argentina or Brazil, who play real football.

IPL did the worse for Indian cricket in World cup T20. Huge amount of money paid to players as slaries by the franchisees, which means that playing for the country is not a serious think as it was before. Likewise EPL is the undoing for England in the World stage.

If they reach the next round they may win the cup. They will be a changed team. They require just one win to get transformed into The Team They really are!

Cmon England!!
by sandeep kumar on Jun 22, 2010 03:28 PM  | Hide replies

No other team, maybe spain, boasts of the talent that England has. I can go on naming the world class players:lampard,gerrard,rooney,lennon,terry,barry..etc. But sad to see them underachieve. Dont forget these players are fantastic weekin and out in the worlds best and toughest league, epl. While the other countreis have players who play for spainsih league and italian league, where the standard is nowhere as high.

EPL is the weakest league in europe thats why all the premier players are being exposed in the world cup!! Laliga players are the worlds best. world cup proves this..

haha..if WC proves la liga as the best, than why have they never won the WC.
And EPL is the strongest league, but england doesnt benefit much due to huge no of foreign players.

Most Over-glorified Euro Side
by better thanyourx on Jun 22, 2010 03:26 PM  | Hide replies

England is the most over-glorified euro side. They somwhow live in an illusion that they have the best club league in the world.EPL may the most watched league but football-quality wise its certainly debatable coz there is La Liga and Serie A.
They also tend to over glorify their players who perform at the club level by calling them 'greats' etc and completely overlooking the fact that international performances also is a major part of these so called 'great' footballers who have been below average at the international level to say the least.
Let these sides remain under illusion coz of their over glorified clubs and let Latin American football reach greater heights when it matters.

Very well said, sir!...just like our glorified cricketers who are only interested in IPL money, England players don't give a damn! when guys like micheal owen were there, the spirit could be seen..it's missing now..just like indian cricket stars, england players are just passing time out there!

Hit the nail better and sreenivasan. Look at our achievers in IPL like Yusuf,Jadeja and their respective performance in world cricket. English players are 1000% over glorified and can't compete with other talented players from small counties. Becoz of strong media and viewers they always be in limelight and that is only there achievement. Forget about winning world cup I don't see them in semis untill my lifetime.
