IT WILL NOT LAST LONG..............
by commonbutawake on Jun 21, 2010 04:32 PM

I have a slightly different point of view……..I feel watching federer play those sublime shots is music to eyes…..Every time he plays, I wish he wins…but that guy NADAL, when he plays, is brute force…and he returns those balls to the game which no human is supposed to return…which have gone out of play…so watching him is like watching HULK….My point is ..in sports these days ..submile artistic athleticism is giving way to brute force ….i m no judge to say right or wrong..but we witness the same thing in cricket…now, rahul dravid’s mastery or steve waghs classics are overshadowed by say afridi’s histrionics or pieterson’s brute force…so game has changed….each one of it..and as we wnter the next decade..more and more FEDERERS AND DRAVIDS will die …and more NADALS and AFRIDIS will stand up…..perhaps from amongst one of us…so….till that time lets enjoy scenic poetry of federer…..it will not last long….

Sampras prediction is true

If not 10 wimbledon titles, Roger will atleast get 3more titles and make it to total of 9 singles titles. This year it could be another championship victory.

NO COMPETITION
by Ravinder on Jun 21, 2010 03:11 PM  | Hide replies

Federer has achieved so many grand slam specially WIMBELDON just because he hasn't face any competition from anywhere just like sampras such as agassi, ivanosevic, rafter and so many of that era that sampras has.

One should not be really jealous of other's achievements. There is no doubt that Federer has been able to win so many titles because of his inborne talent and dedication.Just because he had been winning in almost all major tournaments, others were not able to win titles. This fact does not take away the credit of other equally good players of his era. Nadal's record against Federer is mostly on clay where he is definitely very good.

Federer would have been much greater had it not been for Nadal. Nadal in my opinion is much better than Agassi, Sampras, rafter all combined. Even if they had been at their prime, they could not have defeated the force called Nadal. There are some useless people out there who say that he is only good on clay. Boss, i say that winning French Open five times is no mean achievement and he is much greater than all these loud mouth losers who have done nothing significant in their life.

I don't agree there are no good players. Since Federer is winning matches against all doesn't mean there are no good players. Do you mean Federer is not good player because he doesn't win French Open, it is not that since Nadal is very good in caly so even the good players (like Federer) is not able to win French Open. Same is the case for Federer in other surface, his talent has climbed a bit above and no one is there to reach him.

Dear Mr Kanan, You really mean it when you say soderlinga nd roddick are competition to federer....... by the way how many grand slams have each one of them won??/ Nadal is the only competition per say but then Mr Federer goes weak on his knees when he faces nadal (7-14)...so yes Federer has ben winning because there has been no other consistent competitor to him except Nadal ......... Lucky guy

when federer started winning agassi was still good in form, there were emerging players like Hewitt, Tommy Hass and Roddick is a very good grass court player. But Federer with his consistency and sheer talent has won all the grandslams. And also he is not like nadal who whenever wins everthing is perfect and whenever loses he comes with fake injuries

You are right. Few years back, there was Ms. Arantxa Sachez Vicario and Ms. Steffi Graf in women's tennis. Ms. Vicarios style of play was similar to that of Mr. Nadal. All physical. She used to give very tough competition to Graf on clay courts. And many were arguing that Ms. Vicario was better than Ms. Graf. But many years down the line, just look where they are. Ms. Graf is one of the greatest (if not THE GREATEST) tennis players to grace the women's game. Wait for some time and all will get their answers. Nadal may upstage Federer. But at present Federer is greater than Nadal.
