Federer back from the brink to beat Falla
by Chitra Kale on Jun 21, 2010 10:17 PM  | Hide replies

Federar is FADE. Monotonus, no excitment in his game No new skills, He is growing old In fact he is too old He should be in his house counting all the $ he made. He should have faced Ladle, Ramesh krishnan, Amritraj

and then all of them would have bit the dust after facing Federar! there is nothing like "old" as long as you excel in the field you are and still playing your best. If we go by your comment, Sachin should have been retired from the cricket long ago! but he is playing his best cricket at this age!
Age does not matter, you should have the zeal and motivation to play and your body should cope! thats all!

If he is boring to you, do not watch, we still love the way he plays and we want him to be there to entertain us. He is a legend of Tennis.
It will take long time for anyone to break his record..

The comeback of Roger Federer
by Mehernosh Bharucha on Jun 21, 2010 09:40 PM  | Hide replies

The Roger federer 1 saw on court today was a shadow of himself from his glory days -- the competition wud have lost all meaning if he had been ousted in this first round encounter with Alejandro Falla, who BTW, is ranked 65th in the world, according to the commentators.

Of course, Fedex put his stamp on the match in the 4th set tiebreak and wrapped up the fifth set in doublequick time.

But, if this match is anything to go by, I worry for Fedex !! He'll need to pull unbelievable resilience from deep within himself to once again soar to great heights as in previous editions of Wimbledon !!!

Is fatherhood detracting him from the game ? Is his hunger for sporting excellence clouded by familial responsibilities ? This tournament shall tell !!

I believe he met this guy twice in the last month at the French and at Halle!? and swept past in hte usual Fedex style. But - i just wonder- crossing the great french divide last year- wonder what that does to his psyche- that there might not be nothing else to achieve!? except like sampras' wimbledon singles titles record?

Do not forget, Joydeep, that Fedex still has 1 demon to conquer : defeating Nadal ! & in a Grand Slam, like at Roland Garros ! Sure, it was not Fedex's fault that the two did not meet in the French Open last year but this is a demon the Fedex still has to conquer ! Tho Fedex wud probably not think abt the possibility at all !

I would have said that Falla played a great knock rather than Federar not playing well. It would have been a loss with grace!
