Rather than judging India's sports achievement solely on the basis of cricket(I know there are many who don't actively follow anything other than cricket) let's cheer the the players who are achieving laurels in other sports. Lets make this a culture among us so that few years down the line we can also boast off a vibrant sporting culture like that of China's.

Even better; like China and other countries, let us make sports a culture which all citizens will pursue.
Re: Equivalent of this news is Sania reaching SF of Wimbledon.

Who Cares?? even if she wins Wimbledon or again marries Afridi..who gives a sh*t?
We Indians really have a warped sense of beliefs. Saina has done well...so great for and we are proud as Indians about her performance. But why deride Sania ????Did she say that she is the greatest talent and player in the world. Did she ask for all the sex symbol status and adulation??? Moreover has any woman tennis player in India achieved so much in the past??? Also remember it is much more difficult to make a mark in tennis...where the competition is world wide, unlike badminton which is basically played by commonwealth countries. So lets feel proud of Saina's achievement, but lets leave Sania out of this ????

That is all ok,but do you think there was not a single person in India suitable for her? For M,religion comes first, then the country. And you are right,it is all media hype, first it hyped her so much that one Indian generation totally lost sense went ga-ga over her,and now as per media's projection the same people are deriding her...

because what saina achieved .. sania never .. she was just a media hype .... don't call her world talent she is no way close to that .. she was just our stupid media created celebrity.. sports men real talen is on how much they win, perform .. and not on how much famous they r on media.. sania failed completely on tenis court but rocked in media

should traitors be forgiven so easily, you can forgive a pakistani born and working for his country, but not any indian citizen who earned so much wealth/respect and still betrayed her country.
hope now media will come for Saina Nehwal, as come for behalf of sania mirza who is a pakistani woman , has just glamour and debate capacity. Thanks many many thanks for sania for her fight and for her winning as a Indian i am proud for her.
This news is about Saina..let us appreciate her without referring to Sania..whats there in a name..it is not her fault to have a similar name with Sania..and guys please donot say"please donot be like Sania".She cannot be because she is not M.For all M people, religion comes first, than the nation.
Congrats Saina for your hard work..you are much better than BCCI club cricketers who has gifted asian games men's/women's gold medals in platter to pakistan/srilanka..you make us proud as Indian nationals..in fact all successful badminton players like Prakash Padukone,Dipankar Bhattacharya,P.Gopichand,Saina Nehwal are self made and are/were very patriotic players...

Congrats saina - we are all proud of you. Been watching your game since you first stepped on the ground way back when you are just 14/15 years.
Lets restrict this discussion to the achievement of India's own Saina Nehwal. There is no comparision with Sania...this is Badminton thats Tennis...this is an Indian girl...thats a Pakistani woman
U r one of very few Indian sportspersons who is genuinely world class. Stay focussed and only Olympic Gold should be your Target. Have lots of Biryani when u come back to Hyderabad.
