Most of these guys play in leagues throughout the year and so they have rivalries among them. It's very tough to come back again as a unit in a few days and play as a team. Also because they earn millions of dollars in these leagues, they may lose the passion and hunger to play for the national team. I feel this is the reason for major teams with a lot of individual talent like England, France, Germany not performing up to the mark in this year's WC. The same thing happened to Indian cricket in 2009 and 2010 T20 WC after playing IPL . If BCCI is not careful, India will fare poorly in 2011 WC too.
Zidane & co. achieved this same feat in 2002 when they went out during he group stages after not scoring a single goal. Rubbish team backed by a rubbish coach. Not including players like Nasri & Benzema was a travesty. Treatment meted out Henry is so disappointing.

zidane was injured in 2002 world cup and didn't play the first 2 group games. do your research first. france are nothing without zizou.
