its maddening; vuvuzelas suck...Agreed it is in the culture of south Africa. but do they do it to the extent of damaging the eardrums? No they do it only on special occasions and a few times. As for the world cup vuvus should be symbolic only. If its so bad on TV, imagine the horror in the actual stadium, LIVE. South Africa is doing more harm than good. they as a nation are very good and I respect them. Does world opinion matter to them. Are they not part of a larger world fraternity?
Since I don't like the sound, as if a huge colony of bees flocking towards you, I turned down the volume of the TV.So I can see the match and they can make the noise!
It is unbearable to hear the sound. How can the players concentrate in the field with this type of unbearable noise. The organisers should ban this. Earlier we used to hear the national anthems of the team and mexican waves. That was the trade mark of FIFA world cup. I think the host country should ban the vuvu.
