boring game soccer
by javier on Jun 13, 2010 11:38 PM

soccer itself is a boring game for 88 minutes , there is some action involved only for 2 minutes at max , only if u r lucky, some idiots will brag about the beauty of passes even without goals scored, knowledge this that blah blah blah, its a game of donkeys fighting against each other over the ball and sometimes by fluke it goes into the goal. passing passing passing passing , endless passing , but no goals at all , dont know how some idiots get excited seeing such a boring display. Penalty shootouts are the only real exciting thing in football , rest all bogus stuff

I may be accused of not knowing enough about Soccer, but I must admit I am not able to enjoy this WC as much as I thought I would. When World Cup was telecast live for the first time in India, we were awe struck at the regality of the game, not just of Maradona, but also of other stars like Platini, Socrates, Zico, Rumenige and others. The memories of that event are etched in our memories as if it were magic. After that every WC has been more boring than the previous one. Perhaps one exception was the '94 edition, which was more boring than '98 edition.
If this is how they are going to play Soccer, I am afraid it is going to go the T-20 way.

Agree totally man. THe matches so far have been dull. EVen Argentina after the first 15 minutes were not great to watch. The way to play football now is safety first, which means expext many more 0-0,or 1-0 results in future. By the way, the TRP ratings in India have really come down after the first day. I dont blame them, as you need goals to sustain the interest. Now once Asia cup starts, only the diehard fans are gonna watch. Cricket is destined to be religion in India.

Exactly. 1986 World Cup was the best we ever saw on TV.Maradona's magic still in memory.Platini & Zico also not too far behind.

'82 was better. Brazil under socrates was magic. The France-Brazil match was one of the best ever.

There was no Brazil-France encounter in 1982.
Perhaps you mean France-Germany semi-final which Germany won 5-4, or Brazil-Italy second round match which Italy won 3-2 courtesy Paolo Rossi.

I have had enough of this world cup!
by sandeep kumar on Jun 13, 2010 08:39 PM  | Hide replies

Like 1000s of cricket crazy fans in India, i too fell for the hype of football. But now as i watched a couple of games i had enough. No goals,no creativity, just sideway passes and people falling down every minute and ref whistling. I had much more fun watching RCB play!!

You will have to be patient. These are only preliminary matches. The game will pick up when they reach round of 16. You will see the best foot ball in action.

Frankly speaking, UEFA champions league is the best soccer tournament where most of the competiting teams on an average are better than most of the world cup playing sides.

Football need stamina to run for 90 minutes continuously. Think about our cricket stars\' tummies...
