Agreed. Making a mountain of a molehill is something some take delight in. That incident does not detract away from the fact that Diego is PERIOD the greatest ever footballer that was born on this planet.
I am also for Argentina recreating that magic of 1986. They have a fine team, but what counts is that they should click as a team on that day and one Lionel Messi produces his special magic. To me, they Spain, Brazil, Italy and then that perennial favs England are the top knocks for the cup.

agreed jake.....this time its a level playing field.quite a number of teams r up there.Englands chances have never been brighter in 40 years i guess.

Making fun of Diego Maradona is disgraceful. For all his faults there is no denying that he was the best ever footballer in the history of the game. For magical play, he was streets ahead of all incl Pele.
Rediff... Please also make the reference to t the second goal he scored in the same match. That GOAL was declared as "GOAL of the Century". Don't only highlight "HAND of GOD" move on...Show some respect to legends...All the best Argentina...

That 2nd goal was the best ever in the history of the game. U can see it on YOU TUBE, it had everything, ball control, speed, flair, dexterity and above all the spell bound charm that left you simply asking for more. Diego was greater than even Pele who was stats wise better. But in magical play and ball control, Maradona was simply matchless.

yes we know he has done it, but it sounds quite harsh when someone refers him that way as if thats the only thing he has achieved. We have to remember that he is arguably the world's best footballer of all time.

That has no relevance here and cannot take away the standing he has in the game. He was and remains the best ever in the game's history, Period.

Since beginning whatever he earned was with the help of drugs itself. FIFA should have banned him like Ben Johnson and Marian Jones.

ha ha, what a joke? Just one incident and you made it up as whole of it. If that was so how was he allowed to play for the whole of his career. It was only in 1994 he was caught and not much TRUTH of it is known. Some things never change and some crappy views never change. Before posting make sure of it
