i wish the defensive teams like italy,france and germany shd be eliminated early and the attacking teams like spain,brazil,holland and portugal shd go to the limit.if italy and france moved ahead that will be the death knell for soccer.
There is nothing strange in Italy being beaten by the Mexicans.
The italians has always been like that in the friendly games and even in the first rounds of almost all the world cups.
But as the tournament progresses, they are an entirely different team and that is the reason why Italy is one of the top consistent team in almost all the worldcups, where they have at least entered the semifinal stages in almost all worldcups except here and there like in 2002 WC.
If anyone thinks that Italy was a fluke last time and still managed to win the worldcup, it is their way of viewing the game.
I do not remember now how they played in the 1st round last time, I think it was not entertaining, agreed.
Irrespective of how defensive they are, they defeated Aussies, defeated Ukraine 3-1 and then in that epic semifinal with Germany in Germany where German players and their referres and home support were outclassed in the last 4 minutes of the extra time should defenitely be agreed and what happened in the final everyone one knows, France too played well as were the italians.

I agree with you Hari. Italians are a greta team of all time. They come into full rythem during the worldcup matches. Their game against the Germans in the Semifinal of the last WC was just outstanding

IN 2006 WC i dont appreciate Italy they wat they played against Australia...Tottie was too bad to be awarded the plenty fr foul vich was nvr being made by the Oz...But than in the end wat matter is who wins...

That was true, but again u can never tell Italy played badly, Australians have a very good team, but the penalty was unwanted, i feel.
Again waht i was trying to tell is italians have a lot of mental strength than most of the other teams. To come and take a penatly in the 90th minute when the whole nation is depending on Totti's kick, we have to admire.
That is the diff between a team like italy and england. england as a team overall would be great, but lack mental strenth when the greats like lampard, gerrard and terry miss their penalties at the crucial moment!!
LOL...i hope this continues in the world cup also, as this is a team of divers and whiners. And who made last world cup the most boring one with their defensive tactics. Thye were champs by fluke, but i hope they are knocked out in the first round. And they dont have a single striker in the class of rooney or torres

if just abusing would've won world cups, every team would be doing it! Italy played a very un-Italian game last world cup. they were rather attacking and not defensive. and were amazing at that. they were the best team of the last world cup.

I think you either did not watch last cup or you don't understand Football. Argentina was the best team in last world cup and should have been the worthy winners.

German sponsored Referees were responsible for the exit of Argentina.They turned a blind eye to fouls committed by the Germans. God bless Argentina.This year we will lift the World Cup.
