Cricket in football stadiums ?
by Ezhil Maran on Jul 15, 2010 01:58 PM  | Hide replies

Apart from being a ridiculous idea, just how are they going to set the boundaries? Cricket needs a round or at least an oval shaped ground and not a rectangular ground.

As for popularity, cricket cannot even imagine equality with soccer. Merely because one billion Asians in India Pakistan and Sri Lanka follow a game, it doesn't make it as popular as soccer, which has a worldwide audience, not merely an audience in a dozen countries like cricket.

Whoever heard of a game being played for five whole days and still not producing any result ?

Result is available on sms. Watch game if there is time. In my opinion third day game is best day game. You can see both teams in action. When some time pitch cracks on 3rd day the cricket reaches to its extreme.

Thats rubbish. You telling that cricket is more popular than basketball??

If cricket was so popular around the world it would be in the olympics. The fact is it is not even considered for olympics proving that it is not popular. It is only popular in a handful countries around the world.

Football is the peoples game in africa!!
by Rizwan Khan on Jul 15, 2010 01:37 PM

Rugby is only followed by the minority white people in south africa. Football is the peoples game. To call rugby more popular than football in south africa is totally off the mark. The way the people embraced the game of football during the world cup proves that no sport can come anywhere near football in african countries. Rugby is followed by white people living in africa. Black people who africa belongs too do not care about rugby.
Cricket is again a WHITE sport. followed by a small minority in south africa. I would say 2% of south africa would follow cricket. mainly WHITE people!

Remember Africa is a black dominated contintent, just because some white people invaded these countries does not makes their sports popular. Football is the game of the people. Please refer to TV veiwing figures. Football games broke all records in south africa.

It clearly shows that South Africa is not a football country and like India it has only one game in its showcase - Cricket.

Spain, like any European country, is a very strong football country. Its investments in hosting 1982 WC football at Barcelona started its quest for World Cup. And they won it after 28 years.

Rugby is most popular game of SA like NZ. Football is most popular game of England.Basketball is most popular game in countries that constitute WI. Which leaves us with 5 odd countries who take Cricket seriously.

THe most popular sport in south africa is FOOTBALL. The world cup has proved this. Rugby is only popular to white people in south africa. The peoples came is FOOTBALL. Ask the public how they embraced the football world cup. Rugby is only followed by white people living in africa!! Remember AFRICA has 99% black people! Cricket is almost a non-entity. Please do not compare this silly lazy sport to football

Officially, Cricket is second most popular game in the world after Football. There is no question of taking something seriously or not. If 3 billion people play a particular game that game has to be better than most of the games. Why underestimate ourselves thinking that europeans dont play it?

Football doesn't require any skill just kick the ball, if u cant kick the ball kick the opponent. cricket is a highly intelligent game, people like u cannot understand bec u are use to watching ball kicking around without any sense and purpose. before commenting learn about the game. u will sh.t in ur pants if u face a brett lee's bowling. u dont even know what is speed pace, ur watching football which uncle pedro and fransis play in ur society compound
