Why is it a shame? Don't blame the Indian Football team. They're doing the best they can with the resources available in our country. If anyone, it is the Indian Parent that is to be blamed for not letting their children take up sport seriously.

We in India associate everything with academic achievement, and look down upon people who do no do well at school level. Have you seen how 10/12 Year Olds line up outside coaching institutions to study to get into Institutions like the IITs and the IIMs, but if a kid wants to take up a sport seriously he's given looks of disgust.

It is shameful that people like you who are well aware of how things work in India do nothing but undermine everything. Will you let your kids take up a sport over academics, if they wanted to?

I'm glad you're opinionated about things, but make sure you know what you're on about before you say anything. If you have nothing nice to, keep shut and let the people who're doing something about it deal with being ranked 21st in Asia or the World.

completly agree with u.also cricket enjoys monstorous popularity because doordarshan more or less telecasts most of the matches.so children when they go out 2 play in evening play cricket and imitate its nuances.the government should start telecasting EPL,serie A and definitely champions league
& FA CUP rather than shedding crocodile tears over the slump state of football
