Nigel de Jong would have received a ban for 5-8 matches had it happened in any other game esp cricket. But he didn't receive even a red card for that, and Dutch players are complaining about Webb. Shame on you Netherlands!! Grapes are really sour
I think Webb looked very much like a person in command and did a fantastic job. The yellow cards that the Dutch got is something even the staunchest of the Dutch supporters wouldn't contest on. I think the Dutch players confused Soccer for American football. thats how rough they played.
dutch played rough football throughout the game,de jong deserve to be sent off ,if it wd have happened they wd have played with 10 men for most part the game, then the result wd have been decided much earlier.
Only one team was playing to score a goal in last 30 minutes.Dutch goal was always under threat & finally it happened just before penalty shoot out.Spain was technically a far superior side & should have won by 3-0 if Villa was less selfish on finishing.
what in the world was Nigel de Jong thinking when he kicked alonso straight on the heart/ chest. he should have been barred from playing for 3 matches for such an offense. not even street football has such a violent streak.
so what if its a world cup final ? it does not mean you can get away with so many foula.s the dutch fully deserved sending a few players out.

Agreed!! Red card- then a 3 match ban and probably a knock on the testicle...period.
Webb is right and the refree's did a good job. Netherlands were playing with way too aggression and somewhere actually breaking the spirit of the game.

not only the game. Nigel de Jong would have broken a few ribs of alonso, had he run a bit more faster.

Yes, Netherlands should consider themselves lucky not getting any read cards in first half itself. If they come up with plans to kick people, what do they expect the ref to do? Webb actually showed remarkable control in not sending players off in WC final.
