Congrats
by shuhaib mohammed on Jul 12, 2010 09:05 PM

First of all, congrats for spain team for their tremedous performance in this world cup. they deserved it.
i personally was supporting spain to win this world cup after the early exit of Brazil.
yesertday, i was a fantastic match a remarkable match.
Netherlands did not deserve the world cup b/c, they were concentrating on the fouls throughout the match, as they knew that they can't beat the spain. i was very much happy. netherlands plan did not work out.

How do you think the Moors got to Spain in the first place ? The Moorish muslims from North Africa invaded Spain in the 8th century and lived there until the 15th century when the original Christians drove them out.

We love cricket .. WHY .. Here you GO
by surya das on Jul 12, 2010 08:55 PM  | Hide replies

Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport that is first documented as being played in southern England in the 16th century. By the end of the 18th century, cricket had developed to the point where it had become the national sport of England. The expansion of the British Empire led to cricket being played overseas and by the mid-19th century the first international matches were being held. Today, the game's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), has 104 member countries.[2] With its greatest popularity in the Test playing countries, cricket is the world's second most popular sport after Association football.

The tournament is the world's third largest (with only the FIFA World Cup and the Summer Olympics exceeding it), being televised in over 200 countries to over 2.2 billion television viewers.[1][2][46][47] Television rights, mainly for the 2011 and 2015 World Cup, were sold for over US$1.1 billion,[48] and sponsorship rights were sold for a further US$500 million.[49] The 2003 Cricket World Cup matches were attended by 626,845 people,[50] while the 2007 Cricket World Cup sold more than 672,000 tickets and recorded the highest ticketing revenue for a Cricket World Cup.

Kolkata sucks in soccer. They are good at rioting when their team loses which happens quite regularly. Next time think before you bring in cricket. Mohun Bagan and East bengal suck terribly in soccer. Answer that

One of the most pathetic finals...
by Kumar on Jul 12, 2010 08:54 PM  | Hide replies

This was one of the most pathetic finals i have ever watched. It didnt look like they were playing football, but were mostly busy hitting and kicking each other.

Football can be and should be physical, but it was way out of bounds. So many yellow cards and there should have been a Red Card for the Nedelands player in the 1st half for kicking Spain player in the chest. Just a Yellow .. Come on.

Spain played ok in 1st half and Nederlands had no beat at all, but they picked up in the 2nd half. Spain looked better in the extra time and won with the goal from Iniesta.

I was really looking for Penalty Kicks. Penalty Kicks are always fun and exciting. The result would have been the same anyway. Spain has extra ordinary goalie.

Why not a trophy for India, which too has remained unbeaten in any FIFA world cup that I can ever remember?

This has nothing to do with cricket. Our soccer fans suck. They follow Kaka and Messi. They cannot produce one half as good. When asked to produce a team, they come up with a team like Mohun Bagan. Blaming cricket fans can only go so far. We have produced stars in Badminton and Chess in the last 10-15 years. We are at least a decent side in hockey. Our soccer talent sucks. If Cameroon or Ghana had as much resource as Kerala or Bengal, they will make it to Semis. Blaming some other sport and its fans is a pathetic way to hide total lack of talent, beyond human imagination
