Sour grapes...
by Rajesh Shetty on Jul 11, 2010 11:30 AM  | Hide replies

Well its like saying a batsman deliberately padded. Well in cricket there is an LBW rule to give him out in case the umpire thinks the ball is going to hit the stump, and is not legside. But in football u dont have any such rules. So u have to play by the existing rules, i.e penalty kick. In the Suarez case, it was a clear cut goal. But what if it had been a handball in the D to a ball headed otherwise ? Then would Ghana have not taken the penalty kick ? Here it is a case of football rules being deficient. So sorry..sour grapes..

Rightly said...they shud have rule in football to award goal directly in such cases instead of awarding penalty. As it gives another chance to defending team.
I dont think suarez should e blamed...he accpted red card as per rules.

All the way? You mean Ghana would have won the trophy had it not been for Suarez? For that, you need to score off penalty shots!

He is right.....Ghanian players was much more speedy, skillful and sturdy compared to Uruguay and would have given a very tough fight to Holland !

for his action Suarez got red-card and Ghana penalty which would have sealed off the match...if Gyan didn't scored penalty then why to blame Suarez it was his spontaneous reaction at the goal....then what he will call french team who twice handed ball at D and scored goal against Ireland but not penalized still qualified for finals.

He got Red Card and Ghana Missed the Penalty

Suarez did the right thing. He got red carded and ghana got the penalty. So why didnt they score?
If they missed, then they don't deserve to be in the semis. Suarez played well within the rules of the game and was punished as per the law/spirit. Where is the cheating here?
This is like a situation in Cricket..a team chasing a test score of say 200 in the last day of the match with 60 overs to go. the bowling side bowls wide and away from the batsman..so is that cheating? no its negativity!

let me see.. a bowler bowls wide all the time and its a run for every ball..so 201 runs in 33.3 overs..errr ..201 no balls...and the team won without ever getting a run off the bat...LOL
