World Cup once in four years is too long to wait...such an action paced sport should be held once in two years so that you get to watch more of high class players...

the world cup alternates with the European Cup and the Olympics. So you do get your wish.
Then there is always club football, in case you miss the S. American players.

European,African,Asian team have to play qualifying matches to Play for World cup finals.....they lost during qualifying round.

all the country except host country has to qualify for the world cup football. refer to the fifa website for details.
No country has ever won world cup losing group match during last 6 world cup...Spain lost to Swiss,Holland are undefeated still in this world cup 2010.....but i bet on Spain to lift the trophy and my prediction goes wrong.
