well that definitely cheating, i am sure URUGuay will not enter the finals.

its was GHANA which shoudl have made it.

PLAY to your conscience always in the right spirit and SPORTS brings the people all around the UNIVERSE together.

just by handling the ball he has not done anthing GREAT as he thinks so.

well of course he can say that his conscience is clear and i would not even say that he cheated or something like that..because all he did was impulsive, he had to save that goal somehow.

but of course things need to be changed as far as the laws of the game are concerned. the refree did award a penalty kick which gyan missed, and ultimately ghana lost.
but its like, i bang my car into you, you lose your legs and then the court asks me to pay a huge compensation. well no amount of money can buy someone's limbs. similarly, no compensation (penalty kick or a red card- which anyways was a joke in the last minute of extra time) could get Ghana a goal which they so deserved.

First know the rules of football before commenting. So according to u, a forward on the verge of scoring a goal, if physically hard-tackled by the defender, should be awarded a goal, instead of the usual penalty. But that is not the way it goes. In football u dont get free goals..u have to score urself by hook or crook..at the most what u get is a penalty/red card as compensation. No free gifts...

Do not compare criket which is played by 8 countries to football which is played by the entire world. To qualify for football world cup it takes four years and the competition is fierce unlike cricket where there is no qualification and half of the top 8 teams are useless. Th e top cricket player should be compared to a small asian player. KAKA,MESS,ROBBINHO are more famous unlike Tendulkar who is considered world best but famous in only eight countries. Long live FOOTBALL,

Handball in football is the equivalent of underarm bowling /chucking in cricket. Anyone who says its not cheating is a retard.

he is a bit lucky to escape further ban

No. Its like bowling couple of beamers after which the bowler is not allowed to bowl.
Its not cheating. Its a foul and there is a well defined penalty for it.

I do not get how people are saying that it is cheating!!
If he handballs, he is penalized too...

I agree that what he did was illegal, but at the same time legal action was taken against him, and his team.

So, i can say it is a beautiful tactics...

You don't seem to understand the consequences. This is surely a wrong precedent. Henceforth if there is a chance at 90th minutes every player will do this crap of handling the ball.

A handball is a handball is a handball.Period.It was done deliberately to stop a goal which makes it criminal act on the field. He cant deny this prevented Ghana from making it to last four.Uruguay should not have been allowed to go through. The team should have been sent back or else all players would rsort to such tricks to avoid defeat to their team.If he says his conscience is clear then he is not worth being given any chance. he should be banned for life from football.

nonsense. he handled the ball. a penalty was awarded and he was sent off. these are the consequences laid down for handling the ball. its not his fault that ghana missed the penalty. no reason for him not to have a clear consceince

Agree every law was followed to the letter but unfortunately not to the spirit. If he had done it as an impulse he would have been ashamed, he did it on purpose.

Nath:

You are describing it as if "anyone" can do a handball in the D and the opponents will have to twiddle their thumbs because there is on remedy in the Football laws against a handball in the D area....

Hmmmmm... . maybe first you should familiarize yourself with the rules of the game, eh? :)

"Criminal"??

Do you have some brain?

First of all, the free kick which was awarded was not the free kick. So Ghana should have been sent packing and this hand ball would have not come then...

And banned for life? Heheheheh.... I know it hurts... Better luck next time

Opportunities do not come often. In each and every football match, situation rises for an opportunity - opportunity to score a goal, there is miss and real miss sometimes.... But what a shame for a player to handle the ball when it was almost crossing the line - this unsporting tragedy will be in the history football books and this unsporting behaviour by an individual will be remembered for a long long time. FIFA - give football a peace.
