Or was I mistaken? These two Chinese are way ahead of overrated Sania Mirza. No hype about them. Please do not again say 'at least an Indian has come so far, first woman from India etc' - it just speaks of v.low expectations and low standards. Such achievements mean nothing - first rd singles, 2nd rd doubles.... kids younger than Sania from wartorn countries have won GSlams.
The scary thing is - she is the best from India.
We just have to get off this 'best in India, at least a woman from India' nonsense. If we settle for such b's the country won't have any real stars. Please stop even saying 'then what have you done, at least she has lost in Wim'. She's a professional, that's what she's supposedly does.
Congrats to chinese players for making it to Semis. Oh God !!!! ( Allah ) when will our Sania reach Semis of any Grand Slam !! Long -Long wait I think before Mirza makes it to Semis.

William Brothers !!! You actually mean to say. If you refer sisters then both of them will compete in womens section. william ( call it brothers Or Sisters,Can beat male player who is Not in Top 20 ). Martina Nav. once told reporters that she can beat male player beyond Top 20 .
The chinese are starting to show their power in tennis.... the only hype of india, sania mirza couldnt cross the 4th round of a grand slam for all these years. the indians should atleast learn from its powerful neighbours china.

Sania can make it to Semis as well , she has the potential ... BUT, she needs " encouragement from the people" couple of losses and she gets bashing( mostly Hindus )today what she gets is "media hype" media hype in India is mistaken as encouragement.

i dont remember sania won two rounds consequently since last many years, she is a hype and nothing more. she shud marry and quit tennis and be in burqa soon

I was thinking the same thing. I think Zheng jie and Li Na have been in Semifinals before too. Zheng Jie also won gold medalist in asiad in 2006.
We do hype our athletes men or women. Sania for e.g. is hyped as a goddess. Granted she did achieve something in tennis but the hype is way too much.
One exception is Saina (yes swap i and n) the women's badminton player. She never gets notices though even though she did achive a lot including the current tournament in Malaysia.
