Why do we need a Ministry for SPORTS ?
by imran patel on Feb 03, 2010 07:00 PM  | Hide replies

Another example where government gets involved where it has no business.

More corruption, more red tape and more favouritism.

Get the government out of such functions and demand that it focus on more pressing issues such as,
- National Security
- Monitoring and enforcing borders with neighbours
- Infrastructure
- Lowering taxes

Lets get our priorities right.

Exactly right. The level of sports achievements in our billion plus population is pathetic and the blame rests squarely with government interference. The so called sports ministry is yet another example of a self serving body of politicians. Its time government is kept away from sports. They bring nothing but inefficiency, bureaucracy and corruption.

Did you forget that BJP is in the opposition?
Just because VKM is in Opposition he should not complaint is it?
Just because MSG is in the Ruling, he should'nt be complained against isit?

It is the job of Opposition to point out mistakes.
It is the job of those in the Ruling to set right or clarify.
You too can throw your complaints. For that you have to be in the opposition.
Anyhowz we saw how the National Sports & Sportspersons are benig treated?

How Sharad Pawar or Lalu Yadav are connected to Cricket? How MS Gill was connected to Hockey? Or How Kalmadi is President of IOA for over 10 years?

The fact is that all sports administrators are either politicians or retired bureacrats. This is disease in Indian sports.

But there is no cure for this. Very sad.

Govt Intervention
by Col RS Upadhya on Feb 03, 2010 05:14 PM  | Hide replies

People like VKM run the sports fedration like their personal Pvt Ltd Cos. If Govt cannot intervene when wtong selections are made & players are not paid their dues in time, then why they should be resposible for prepration of sports facilities? The sports bodies should take on the responsibility themselves. If Govt funds are used by these bodies they shall jolly well be accountable to the Govt.
After all it is the name of the Nation that is degraded when we fare badly in international arena, NOT the sports Fedrations that run them
