Football fans will not forgive Materazi

Disgraceful and graceless chap.

He destroyed a super legend who was on verge of retirement. Zidane would have won the WC for his team. He couldn't handle the provocation meted out by the guy who was marking him.

Zidane, we love you.

There is no questioning Zidane's genius. And no doubt Materazzi provoked Zidane. But ultimately what Zidane did was not right. Zidane should have ignored him and carried on. It costed the world cup for his country. Remember 2001 Aus series last test in Chennai - How much Mcgrath sledged Sachin and Sachin calmly continued batting in the first innings and went on to score a match winning 126. If Sachin had reacted, that would have costed India's most famous series wins.

Anand, thanks. I agree Sachin is peerless; great attitude for such a talent.

Football is not like cricket, it is much more physical and rough.

Disgraceful and graceless mean the same!

This is what I don't understand..provocation never justifies the kind of action he did. Great legends translate their anger into legendary sporting actions.

Have u ever seen Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Roger Federer, Pete Sampras or any sporting legend losing their cool on the court/field?

They reply within the game.

For me...Zidane, though an impeccable footballer, fell from grace with that incident.

He didn't deserve to win the World Cup that year after doing that...and thankfully....didn't!

they are not same Nitin !
disgraceful is shameful.
graceless is without grace.

Agree about gems like Sachin, Kapil, Roger Federer, Sampras, Walsh etc.
Sunny I'm not sure - he walked out of a test pulling the team away after Lillee sledged.

Regarding Zidane it was a bit of a cultural thing. He got messed up in that match with this sledging. Remember how Shalya sledged hero Karna and hastened his end..
