ahahahaha "This song has fallen short of expectations. " says some useless member of a committee whose entire organizational capabilities from 7 years have fallen short of even the barest of expectations! I don't know whether the theme song deserves this criticizm or not, but even if it does, atleast this Malhotra has no right to criticize it.
I agree with V K Malhotra that the theme song by Rahman is a damp squib. Far from creating optimisim, it seems to drown the stadium in cacaphony and sheer noise. How can you have the same person singing, coreographing, writing and composing at the same time? The scenes displayed in the background create the impression that India is an Islamic republic.

Re: YES..HOW DID HE GET OSCAR FOR JAI HO SONG

ur right.that is a below average song.but being a hindisong these aryans excahnged loads of money to get oscar.
Almost all top athletes have withdrawn from CWG.i suspect that many countries will put out from cwg.only srilanka, bhutan, bangaldesh will take part tin this great cwg hehahahaha
I still wonder how he got Oscar for his louzy song/music for that film, wheras he gave such melodies in Roja,MumbaiGetleman and other such movies early in his carreer. He lost that melody touch atleast 5 yrs back..the notable being Lagaan, after that he started dishing out some useless music. Unlike Ilayaraja or MSViswanathan or Hindi Giants like S&J,RDBurman or L&P he could not sustain for long, yet he was given Oscar!! appeasement...may be!
the song should be designed in such a way, it automatically comes on lips of every one. I feel the organizer should ask Mr. Gulzar to write the song then ask Rahman to compose the music.
