I've personally heard the cwg theme song and its really good. Illayaraja's time is over. Then why would danny boyle choose arr instead of illayaraja, if raja's music is so great? raja's catered to his generation and failed to come out of his self imposed shelf. He was never good in western music. His music was more of folk and rural concept songs.

And by the way, even JaiHo sucked big time compared to Rahman's music for the "WarriorsOfHeavenAndEarth" which was truely awesome!! This song is not worth even 1 hour of effort (forget 6 months)!!

You should know arr composed music for sdm which was a h'wood film, so he got the chance to compete in all the individual categories of the awards. He got award for what he had made the music. Jai ho is truly remarkable song and deserved the oscar.

Awards dont speak the whole story!! Even HenryKissinger, YasserArafat and Obama won the NobelPrize for NOTHING!! Awards are a big joke in many cases and SDM was one such big joke both in the movie and the music category!!!

You cant compare nobel prize for peace with oscars. In fact the nobel peace prize has failed to meet its rules and standard. If you cant digest the success of sdm, then no one can do anything about it.

You cant expect the same type music for a cwg as in a beauty pagent. Again if such a event was being held, will they call arr or raja? Raja's time is surely over. He was confined to his own genre.

It is no point wasting time here. All knows how good jai ho was. I have seen here someone telling Ilayaraja does not know western music. Whoever has said that either has a selective memory or need to refresh his knowledge. The fusion was first created by Raja Sir in 1986. He performed very well at the Royal London philharmonic orchestra. Does that mean these are related to rural music. These days lot of marketing and gimmicks are needed to show someone on top. Unfortunately Ilayaraja did not have that luck.

Why are you so adamant about that one song. It was in '96. Maybe you are stuck in that era 14 yrs back. I heard the song long time ago and was not special.

Micheal, have you heard Raja before ? its utter stupidity to say Raja is not good in western music. Infact, he is the first one to master wester classic music in Indian films and you are telling he is more of folk and rural..haha..this is the problem when anyone can type in messages in discussion boards..whatever, go learn before you make any comments about a legend.
Would it be as peppy as "Waka Waka" or "Un dos tres"? Most probably not. The last peppy song from Rahman was 'Andha Arabi Kadalorum' from 'Roja'. We need fresh numbers from Rahman instead of the repetitive songs. Most other musicians copy from other musicians or languages, but here is one person who is copying from his own music.

Can you give some examples of this copying from his own music? Dont just talk nonsense without proper proof. Do you know waka waka was a copy of another song from cameroon? Also andha arabic song is from 'bombay'. This only shows your knowledge of music.

Check the song 'Deepangal pesum' composed by Ilayaraja in the film Devadhai and you will know where it is used now if you have a good knowledge in movies.
Rahman is loosing charm and if u had gone thru his recent films/albums u will understand this... Raavan, endiran (robot) are too jarring and boring... Wake up boss or u will miss the bus !!!

Then who else is composing better music than him and can you name some of those songs? Maybe you can catch the bus for reshammiyah... rahman cant give hits all the time. He will definitely have off times also.

If Endiran songs rock, then it is good for Rahman. Hope it is not as hard as a rock that will knock us dead or like other boring repetitions.
