he bagged oscar due to world wide recession!! he is master of computer music. all the bla bla are stored in the computer and put piece here ane there ....some bang bangsound comes . all his music are for a day only. nothing to remember like Ilayaraja sahab!!

We all know that our country boasts of some truly versaltile gifted musicians and artistes.Yes we got better composers than A R Rahman!!
Going by the comments in the forrum I am of the opinion the reason why A R Rahman is chosen for such national events is because his music is very much youth oriented and modern,having mass appeal when he succeeds in striking the right chord with the audience besides currently being on a roll due to his Oscar recognition he sure is sought after...

the list is endless...to start with Shankar,ehsaan,loy,Pritam,Ilairaja,Jaidev,Hridaynath,Mangeshkar,...just because they have not got an international platform does not mean they are not versatile or gifted, they too can come up with equally commendable music!!

Rehman is the luckiest musician who has been appreciated and pampered in India more than his worth. As a singer he is just ok but he cleverly hides behind his computer controls and loud music. He pretends and claims to be a shy person but see...in reality he grabs every opportunity to be on the stage and in the media. Rehman has lost the magic of Rosa...and his earlier music. Slumdog Millionaire music was average but because the movie was a hit all over the world he got free publicity.
A. R. Rehman has left Hinduism and has accepted Islam in India without creating any music in the media. He has got full right to choose relgeon of his choice. Its fine, but now a days he is openly talking and praising Islam instead of talking about his music. That is also fine. But Rehman is giving his reasons also why he likes his relgion more etc and in a subtle way is trying to criticize Hinduism and its concepts. Why? Many Hindus have played a great role in building his career...he was been loved by every secular Indian. But he does not care about Hindus feelings. A.R.Rahman is really ungrateful artist.
We Hindus are united irrespective of our language and our state. We may be from East, West, North or South...we all are Hindustani. We are one big caring...loving family with greatest family values and traditions on this earth. Why are we so broadminded souls? Why are we supporting some one who is showing disrespect to Hinduism?

this is ridiculous, every big event this guy always has the song. I do not understand is not there a single other good composer or musician in this country. Last time i checked we had rich culture of music in this country and there are so many great musicians. How come this guy gets all the good parts. Is is just because of the Oscar, why nto somebody else, do these committees even consider other great musicians this country has produced or just blindly took rehman because of publishity , i am getting sick of hearing his style of music.

For Congress he is the only one. ;-)
Rahman has very strong Congress connection. Earlier he had given his composition for Gulzar's song "Jai Ho" to Congress for election campaign in 2009. He had stolen the music of Kool and Gang's "Celebrations" and got Oscar award for best original score.
Its a different matter that he had no answer when asked about the meaning of Jai Ho. :-)

FOR MISHRA N SHRIKANTH, THESE PEOPLE NEVER DID ANYTHING FOR INDIA OR 4 THEMSELF, THEY ARE JUST GETTING JEOLOUS OF REHMAN SUCCESS. REHMAN SPREAD INDIAN MUSIC ALL OVER THE WORLD, HE HAS GIVEN A BIG BOOST TO INDIAN MUSIC, HE HAS MORE FOLLOWERS THAN AMIR OR SRK. WE DON'T HAVE WORDS FOR EXPLAINING HIS TALENT. HE IS UNMATCHED.
