Did he get a Medal in Olympics or World Champion ship?
Gagan You better quit.. you never going to get a Khel Rathna..and no body in India enjoys your so called shooting ..
How can we consider shooting as a game..and given a chance so many people perform better than you ..you got a gun and facility ..just enjoy your shooting rather than looking for a khel rathna..don't even think about khel rathna without winning a medal in olympics...
This years khel rathna is given to a right person..

The 27-year old, ranked No 2, won a bronze in the 10-metre air rifle event at the 50th World Championships in Munich recently, thereby booking his London berth.

LOL!!! Nehwal got Khel Ratna only because PT Usha was chairperson of the awarding committee. What has been the achievement of Saina Nehwal? She had won tournaments where top players of the world didn't participate. If she had shown same temperament and achievements over a period of time, then the award would have made sense. On the other hand Gagan Narang has won medals in almost every major tournaments for last 4-5 years. He was the maximum medal winner for India in last CWG. Also he is the current World Record holder for 10m air rifle.

oh is it.. I guess P.T Usha didn't accept the money offered by Gagan..
Go and read the news papers man.. Saina is No.2 in the world. If you watch the badminton then you will understand the difference between badminton and shooting..
I feel that no shooting star should be considered for Khel Rathna. since shooting can't be consider as a game.
its just an olympic sport participate by upper class .And giving credit to this sport you are just insulting the real sportsman of our country..
I agree...pull out from CWG...i want games to be failure...i can't take any more tax burden and fill govt servants pocket...Only thing politicians thing off is thr own pockets CWG doesn't matter to them...please GOD ...let CWG be big big failure in INDIAA
It is better he pulls out. If he thinks that getting Khel Ratna is more important than representing India and winning medals for India at the CWG, it is better he sits out. Surely he plays for individual honours than for the sake of pride of the country. After all who has he lost the awards in the last three years? Nehwal, Vijendar Singh, Sushil Singha and Mary Kom! Two of them are olympic medalits while Kom has been supreme boxer for long and has almost every world title under her belt. Saina Nehwal surely has done more to deserver this award simply because he has risen to world No 2 in a sport in which India have had any prior recognition except for the brilliance of Padukone, Gopichand or Popat. He has broken the stronghold of Chinese, Korean and Indonesians. Narang has after all risen to world No 2 in a sport in which Indian team has been quite strong for long. If he thinnks he is the only one who has missed it, he should take cue from Rahul Dravid, Kumble or even Yassen Merchant or Bhupathi. These guys have been just superb and consistant for more than a decade. Take for example of Dravid and Kumble. They were at the prime when someone like Dhoni was awarded. Perhaps the award should have been given to Team India than won T20 world cup than to Dhoni. But neither Kumble nor Dravid had cribbed over this despite being way ahead of Dhoni as a player and individual. But these are gentlemen who do their best and awards chase them unlike Narang who chases awards.

Arts and Entertainment (sports) cannot flourish without patronage. See history of any geographical area and you will know it. National pride alone cannot earn you fame, forget about 2 square meals a day (even rich people pets lead most luxurious lives than the athletes who won medals and broken their limbs). Forget about current cricket generation, I can give you live examples of olympian medalist working as kabab makers and dirvers. I will ask you a simple question, is it way to treat our national heros. Pleas tell me a why to protest such type of injustice (either Gandhian way or Hitler way). At least Gagan Narang has choosen Gandhian way and you still have complaints on him, pity on you and ourselves.

There is no wrong if he complaints that he has been neglected. But after all the award will be individual achievement again. So if for the sake of individual recognition someone wants to hold country's pride for ransom, I believe that there is something seriously wrong with his intentions. After all he should be happy that he has been the most consistent and that is why he has been nomited thrice continuously. But everytime someone might have come along with flashes of brillians which were enough to edge him down. Why he want only to skip CWG, let him skip all the international events. He will not because other international events bring in a lot of money for the winners while CWG medal is not so. If he really feels that he has been wronged, he should seriouly hang is gun down and protest and not merely threaten CWG. After all in CWG India has always fared better even without Narang or shooting. The one who puts individual self before the pride of the country, deserves to be neglected.

Crazy, guy wailing like school kid at not getting a toffee!!!! Narang sit at home and cry Awards and rewards will follow when deserved Look at other sportsmen and learn
Gaganji in India who cares if you got gold medals for India continuously. If you want Kheal Ratna, instead of working hard, you should have been efforts to be in good books of crooks like Kalamadi or even Rahul baba would have been brought you that award.
Today, some dacoits are looted a train in Bihar and every channel is showing that. But, what about these pololitcal dacoits, which are looting innovatevily every day people's hard earned money.

IN INDIA SPORTS IS 100% POLITICS & MONEY. KALAMADI HAS FULL CONTROL. IF ONE IS IN KALAMADI'S GOOD BOOKS, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE GOLD MEDALIST ANYWHERE.

YOU JUST NAILED IT!!! SAYING GOES....WHERE YOU LIVE THERE IS NO RESPECT FOR YOU, LEAVE THAT COUNTRY/PLACE/VILLAGE AND MOVE WHERE YOU GET RESPECT. MOVE OUT OF INDIA....MR. GAGAN ARE U SINKING IN....
Gagan is entitled to his views/feelings. But sometimes, you do it for the nation and take pride in it. Tendulkar is a good example to follow for any Indian.
