Mahindra United disbanding
by chidanandan madathil on May 16, 2010 07:22 PM

I view this development with mixed feelings.Mahindra should stay in the I League while persuing efforts to development of the game. However I find that there are innumerable "player specific " initiatives taken up by corporates like Tatas ( T F A ) Airtel,Cococola and many others leading to the Under 13,16,19 and 21 Indian Teams. These are projects, all runnung into crores ( A football Academy to be set up involves atlest Rs 200, crores ) When these "graduates " come out of these various camps there are no quality teams to absorb them.It is there fore time for Corporates to get into Club Specific Projects at the district level.I invite Mr Alan Durant to Sponsor Kannur Football Senior League ( nine teams ) Just give me one crore per year.Alan may know that all Bombay Teams in the early sixties had atlest three playere from Kannur. This little town was once a football power house contributing thirty players to the Indian Team and more than hundred players to the various top teams of India
