Not yet proved himself in world cup, against the best defence!
by nisha thoas on Apr 12, 2010 06:51 PM  | Hide replies

He scores freely against feeble defences in the spanish league, against players hardly anyone has heard of. But dont forget that against Chelsea last year in champions league, he was anonymous in the 2 legs against John terry and Co. Let him score against teams which has defenders like ferdinand, carragher, lucio rather than bullying bilbaos and departivos. Also he's done nothing in an Argentina shirt.
Long way to go dude.

u r sick and do not know anything about football. it seems last year's European champions league featured mohun bagan and dempo sports club, when barca won last olympics in soccer featured india and sri lanka when argentina won. messi was the best player in bost these campaigns. rio ferdinand is one of the most hyped defender in world. let's see what england does in wc. never ever reached a final except in 1966 at home. garracher, lucio ...jokes as defenders, they r no cannavaro or nesta. if u r a girl pls. chk what norway's woman's soccer team is doing...dont tread into the world of men's football.

good joke ! thats why he scored 4 goals against arsenal defence in the UEFA cup match recently and you are talking about last year? There are equally good or better defenders in the spanish , german or italian leagues too...head to head for each carvalho, evra, terry , cole , vidic etc there is a lucio, cannavaro, chileni , laahm , pique, zambrotta , roberto ayala(zaragoza) , javier rodriguez (villareal) in the other leagues .. you need to watch a bit more international football instead of watching too much EPL. Don't get me wrong, they are all good defenders you mention, but messi has been phenomenal this past 2 years

Also dont remember his goal against ManU in last year's final where he did against Ferdinand and Co. But playing for Argentina is a problem

4 goals against Arsenal is nothing to be proud of. They have problems contolling Park Ji Sung never mind a player as good as Messi. Arsenal not an English side style wise. He did score against Utd in the Final 09 but he has never preformed well in any of the games against Utd or Chelsea. Cheileni is a clown and Zambrotta and Ayala are well past it

"Some were kicking like donkeys, others were playing football". LoL.....

I see the innuendo is aimed at CR9, Alonso et al.

So much money gone down the drain.

I won't be surprised if similar fate awaits Man City. Robinho is another bottomless pit a la CR9.

boss the difference is will Messi be ably supported by the rest...apart from higuain ,riquelme and tevez who do you think can really do justice to Messi's ability as far as goal scoring and set pieces are concerned? veron is old and slow now ...and what about the dismal performance in the qualifying stages? They even lost to bolivia! as much as i am an argentinean supporter I cant help but see the inevitable happening..They are in group with the strong Nigerians.

Good team to support him as well
by Bala on Apr 12, 2010 05:49 PM

Messi is a great player. No one can question his capablities. FIFA's rating never go wrong. Besides his talent, he also enjoys a wonderful support from his team that makes him this deadly.

Stoichkov - The best
by Praveen BK on Apr 12, 2010 05:49 PM  | Hide replies

Coz of Stoichkov, I liked and loved Bulgaria and even now support them!

"Money doesn't play football." ==> How very true in Real's case. They only play like individuals not like a team. While Barca are slick in passing and gel like Fevicol! However, much I hate RM losing to Barca, I have to admit that RM are, not yet, the complete and well-rounded outfit and Barca, presently, are the best!

Hristo Stoichkov
by slayer slayer on Apr 12, 2010 05:03 PM  | Hide replies

take a bow , he was and will ever be the greatest of captains that never was on the football field marshalling his troops like a proud and never say die leader with superb skills. He transformed an average Bulgarian side into world beaters in 94 world cup ...can't forget him and the awesome bulgarians that summer , the grizzly kostadinov, the old man letchkov , the sly foxy balakov ,fast and furious stoichkov ...have been since imprinted in my memory forever

As for Messi , hail him too ! he is the real deal rather than the pretty boy ronaldo , another el clasico going down the drain for him

Stoichkov known for his speciality in taking free Kicks. He has special skills in that.In 94 world cup, the situation was like if Bulgaria gets the free cicks near the penalty area, that will be goal for sure.
