U ARE NO DOUBT STUPID BUT HERE IS A CONSOLATION!!

Time Magazine's quote on Sachin:
" When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket, Michael Schumacher was yet to race a F1 car, Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France, Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team, Pete Sampras had never won a Grand Slam. When Tendulkar embarked on a glorious career taming Imran and company, Roger Federer was a name unheard of; Lionel Messi was in his nappies, Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters. The Berlin Wall was still intact, USSR was one big, big country, Dr Manmohan Singh was yet to "open" the Nehruvian economy. It seems while Time was having his toll on every individual on the face of this planet, he excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of Sachin Tendulkar. We have had champions, we have had legends, but we have never had another Sachin Tendulkar and we never will.”

Time magazine could definitely come up with similar quotes for every legend in every sport.

Messi is sublime
by S Dutta on Apr 07, 2010 12:10 PM  | Hide replies

He is much greater than Ronaldo or Kaka at this moment.

Last night he scored with both left & right legs with equal ease. And he has a powerful header too (as was evident by his goal against ManU in last year's final).

He is a gifted player who loves his football at his beloved club. If this continues Barca will retain the Champions league title this year without any doubt.

Even his wrong foot shots are so precise. No wonder he's the man of the moment.

MESSI
by md shahelal on Apr 07, 2010 12:02 PM  | Hide replies

Messi is good player and not overrated like brazilian ronaldo and others but still he is nowhere comparable to legendary Pele who played 4 world cups in total class but what maradona played in single 1986 world cup that is matchless with any footballer in the world. Messi can be compared to john cruff.

Messi is sheer Magic. Clearly another Maradona in the making

Messi is without a shred of doubt the best talent unearthed after Maradona. I watched in awe yesterday when he scored the 4 goals against Arsenal. This man produces magic and let us celebrate the arrival of the third great after Pele and Maradona! Messi, the world is at your feet!

We are all stuck in the past ... this man is, on current form, the greatest of all time. He proves this not in one match, one event, but day after day. He needs to show something at the world cup also for him to finally get the status of greatest footballer of all time.

Cryuff reached two WC finals including a 2-0 win over Brasil in a semi-final. He invented total football with the Dutch.

Now Messi cannot be compared to Cryuff as Messi has done NOTHING in wc football and was certainly very very ordinary in the qualifying rounds.

Playing for Barca is not WC football.

We will see in South Africa if Messi accomplishes anything....

Cryuff did not invent total football. It was Rinus Michels who did it. No one is saying that Messi is going to SA and come back with the World Cup. It also depends on what team the Argies will in SA.

STOP THIS WORLD CUP DEBATE!!!
by hariharan s on Apr 07, 2010 11:11 AM  | Hide replies

A good player in a good team can produce results...whereas a good player in a weak finds very difficult to find success....Take for eg,Sachin Tendulkar during the 90s,As an opener he does the job well...gives a good start to the team and maintains d run rate...but inspite of scoring a century, after he gets out,the whole team falls like a pack of cards..as an opener,he'had done d job by givin a start..The middle order needs to finish d game..

Similarly,Barca have a strong midfield,an intelligent passer in the form of xavi, dribbling like Iniesta and verstality shown by Alves...he receives the ball and calmly finishes the goal, but in argentina, riquelme is not in national squad,a broken old horse called Juan Veron leads d midfield which has idiotic players like maschareno, sorin etc...

Individual brilliances are best shown in a good team and Messi is lucky to have a good team to support him....

I HOPE THIS ENDS THE DEBATE

LOL@Tendulkar!

Haha...who knows Tendulkar outside India? Messi is known worldwide. Cricket is a joke of a sport. We Indians are lazy, so our choice of sport too is lazy.

Sachin as an opener in the first batting might have done his job but what has he done while chasing a total. Has he won a match while chasing, exceptions are always there.
Mind you he is a very good batsman but not a match winner.
Comparing Messi with Sachin is ridiculous. For some people the discussion never completes untill you talk about cricket.
Please please when you talk about football talk about football and its players only!!!

Is this a messi debate or tendulkar debate? Rightly pointed out. Messi is brilliant individual and his team allows him to showcase his brilliance. Only wish is that he is allowed to do so for Argentina.
