WTA is in terrible state
by chelsea on Sep 22, 2009 09:53 PM

Retired players must be queuing up to make a comeback. There is no real competition in the WTA anymore. No offense to Clijsters, but its amazing that a player coming back out of retirement is able to win a grand slam so soon. It was only her 2nd or 3rd tourny. This would never have happened on the men's side.

the crisp backhand was a connoisseur's delight, the athleticism on par with the best.
she single handedly ended the williams' domination, exposing time & again the sour loser tag that befits serena .
hope she does make tht comeback & makes it bwith a bigger bang than her compatriot. cant wait justine

I want Ivan Lendl to come back. He was a through athlete and true gentleman. Unlucky to miss Wimbledon but was No. 1 for so long.

A great idea. You might also like Rod Laver, Ken Rosewall, John Newcombe, and Roy Emerson to come back, and compete with Federer, Nadal, Murray, Djokovic and Del Potro

it is a great news. Henin is a class player 'female version of federer' Her style of play is unique esp her one handed backhand is so powerful. It is always a pleasure to watch her play

Henin coming back is good news..But she retired because of certain personal problems...If those have not yet been solved then there is no point in attempting a comeback.

Edberg wont stand a chance against the present Del Potro, Federer, Djokovic,... he was playing against weak players and hence was at the top for some time..

Have u checked his Head-to-head record against Pete Sampras, the greatest player of all time. It's 6-8

His record against Agassi is 3-6, and that against Lendl is 14-13.

Which among these players is weak?

Kindly check the details before posting.

Hey did u know Edberg smoked Sampras in 1992 U.S open final. Sampras was then a 21 yr old and former U.S open(1990) champion already. If he could do that to Sampras and The same Sampras can bt Federer(albeit in an exhibition match of late) one can safely bet he could have been a match for the current crop.

A champion in one era will always be a champion in another era. It's not Edberg's mistake that he was born 20 years earlier. If he were playing today, he would have found a way to defeat Fedex, Nadal, Del Potro, etc.

by Anselm Pinheiro on Sep 22, 2009 12:22 PM  | Hide replies

Past records say that Henin was way better than Clijsters just because Clijsters returned back and won a grand slam Henin wants to come back. Ha ha . The former No.1 is back to be on No.1
