This Del porto plays quite similar to Rafael Nadal, in terms of power play.
Thats why i guess a younger fitter Nadal got better of the older one.

Yes you are right . Porto is a power man . He beat nadal in his own game . some shots from del porto was unbelivable ! his reflex and angle was perfect ...even roger doesnt generally play that swift and angle i thinks

Federer vs Del potro final

Roger will be gunning for his 6th consecutive US Open title and how much more greater can it get.. his achievements are phenomenal.

Whether he wins the final or not he is definitely the greatest and with another 4 or 5 years left in him he can make it more than 20 GS easily.

You are right dude! I haven't seen a player with such dominance. He's making it every semi-finals from the last 22 grand slams, 20 finals means out of 22 frand slam finals.
Unbelieveable record!

indeed my friend , never seen such a dominance from a player . fedex is indeed a sporting phenomenon . only sampras I would say matched the charisma , but federer's drive is even greater !

Well done Roger.
I wish you luck in the final. The way Del Potro disposed of Nadal in the other semi-final, you will need the luck on your side to win.
Spare a thought also, for Jack Kramer, one of the founders of ATP, and a former Tennis Great of the 1940s, who succumbed to Cancer yesterday. May his soul rest in peace.

Patilji: Good morning. So, Federer needs luck!!! Hahahahaha... I know you are a Nadal fan... but saying Federer needs luck is carrying it too far. Federer won French Open this year not by luck, but because Nadal lost in the pre-quarters and thereafter Federer beat Haas, Del Potro and Soderling in that order to win the title. Federer won Wimbledon this year not by luck, but because Nadal sat out owing to an injury by not taking care of his body. Federer won by beating Roddick in a classic final, even better than the 2008 finals, where Roddick had his chances but did not grab them. Remember in sports you make your own luck and when it comes across, grab it. Roddick failed to grab it in the 2nd set tie breaker in the finals when he was leading 5-2 with his serve to follow! Yes, Del Potro played extremely well in the Semis and will certainly fancy his chances. So, all the best to both the players and may the best player win. As for Nadal, it is time he put his tennis gear away for a couple of months and mended his body, even as Andy Murray, who was supposed to be the player of 2009, takes time off to mend his mental toughness!

Good Morning Professor.
I really feel sad that a learned person like you should comment on anything without reading it. Agreed that Federer is a great player, and normally his opponents will need luck to get better of him, but the way Del Potro played against Nadal, and assuming that he is able to retain the same level of intensity today, anyone will need luck and extraordinary play to defeat him; Federer included. What is wrong in this statement?
A learned Professor like you should have given a long essay on Jack Kramer instead. Have a nice day.

The statement is not merely wrong, but ridiculous. I wrote my comments after reading, analysing and understanding what you wrote! As I have said, based on how well Del Potro played in the Semis (you have to agree Nadal was totally flat like a Cola without any fizz) he will certainly fancy his chances against anyone, including Federer. Best of luck (there I go again with the word `luck')to both and may the better player on the day win!

a very poor analysis this by you dear regarding fed needing luck!!!

it is a known fact now that when nadal is attacked by ferocious hitters like potro,tsonga,soderling,ferrer,...he instantly forgets his own game which is to hit high top-spin balls....indeed when attacked he simply returns the ball and tries to keep the ball in play as is evident from his losses to such power hitters, and this is a major aspect of his game which will definitely hinder him from winning more grand slams as more and more power players are born day by day!!!

federer also has been troubled by such power hitters, which is but obvious, but the variety in his shots in rallies and even the varieties in his service are enough to defeat any great player even if he is not playing his best tennis....nadal basically is dependant only on his huge topspin shots....whenever a guy like potro starts picking it up and attacks, he has no option but to retrieve the ball all around the court-that's why he lost!!!

potro will be no match for fedex in the final...so there's no question of luck here....expecting a 4-setter though.....

What a statment "The way Del Potro disposed of Nadal in the other semi-final, you will need the luck on your side to win."
I think anyone in this world who is playing against Fedex needs luck.
Federer will demolish Del Potro as Del Potro demolished Rafa
