Every time some body says to write off Paes, he proves it that he has it in him. I will always remember those Davis cup matches where you bet bigger stars. Good luck Paes for your finals. You have made our country proud.

lmao tht makes no sense. if tht was the case, the first player to play any sport has to be considered the best.
ans this question:who will be considered a greater player- Paes or federer? (dont go into crap abt singles doubles etc). ans in 1 word.
also, why didnt this idiot win any grand slam singles tournaments if he is any good? no paes fan can ever ans this question!

Mr.Don, Are you aware that Paes is the best tennis player India has produced from its population of more than 100 Crores which includes you.Have you achieved atleast 1% of what Paes had done? He had scaled heights which no Indian had done before!!Be proud that atleast Paes is there to save the face of billion Indians and an idiotic as*s like yours! The way you spit venom, you shud be a real don of criminals.
Singles or doubles, it has got its own recognition.

kh@n-ki chele what you have done in this nation of billion population?
Frustrated person with no talent you just follow results and comment. He is not Sampras, Nadal or federer or legend in world tennis but he is still a name which Indian Tennis will remember.

how many grand slam doubles has federer won.....kolkatan loves football...but how many worldcclass player are in kolkata...this kolkata guy is to much furious to critic for leander but he himself dont know that what wrong paes has done by reaching final...

good that paes won. this way bhupathi can kick his sorry a$s in the finals with a 6-0 6-0 win
this is doubles for god sake-a game for tennis failures. it's hardly an achievement. beating the likes of fed/nadal/murray/del potro and winning the singles would be an achievement.
paes is a waste of space. playing against 18 yr old girls and failures is NOT an achievement.

Hey Mr. Viv Richards tennis is a world sport though doubles is less competitive but still a world event with lots of money. Some people will never enjoy world sports but enjoy centuries, averages when India A, plays India B and think centuries, averages in these games as huge achievements.

John Mcenroe partnered Peter Fleming and won the US doubles title. Roger Federer won the Olympic Gold in doubles. By your logic, I guess they are also failures. i wonder if you know how to score in tennis?
Re: what is so great?

Well Paes had defeated sampras in singles when he was world No. 1.
Then he's got victories in Davis Cup singles against top 20/10 players. Defeats inflicted in davis cup against france (in Lyons), switzerland, south africa, ..... Getting a Olympic Bronze medal in singles defeating 3 top 10 players on the way.

LOL
i was talking about singles grand slams you moron. no one gives a damn about the davis cup and tier 2 tournaments. infact, federer now doesn't even care about the masters series which is JUST below the slams.
davis cup and unknown tournaments are not worth mentioning. tell me his singles record in grand slams.

i am talking of singles too you moron. Paes had defeated sampras when sampras was world no. 1 ( and not in a davis cup) and won that tournament too.
That he has past his prime in singles is true. But he was a good singles player when he had won a bronze at olympics.
And Federer is my favourite too. And paes/Bhupathi are also my favourites. And you have no business to call me a moron.

no top player gives a damn about the davis cup. paes wins against useless players from useless teams in the davis cup.

A few nations with the least competitive power in world sports play cricket but you enjoy taking those averages.....
Re: Re: Re: what is so great?
by Edwin DSouza on Sep 10, 2009 06:47 AM
Well if u know tennis then Henri Leconte, Marc Rosset (olympic singles champion), Pete Sampras (a legend), Goran Ivanesevic, .... were great singles players and Paes had defeated them in his prime.
And sampras was beaten at New Haven when he as world no. 1

Agreed. Thats why rediff gave such a low profile for this news. If there is a tournament for handicapped, I bet Paes will play that too, acting some thing. He is history.
