Maradona's coaching skills is outdated. in his days he could run from middle of the ground to the penalty area and score. whereas in today's generation of football the defenders are well built and tough to even yellow card the strikers before he could reach the goal keeper's box. if he still teaches those old out-dated skills then argentina could well miss the spot for the WC in southafrica. in brazil there are umpteen maradonas and maradona will know his coaching is of no use once argentina fail to make it to the wc finals.

In brazil there are umpteen maradonas" - u seem to be hallucinating players of the calibre of Maradona don't grow in trees they r only born once in a century.I think ur chronic Argentina hate is briging out this reaction from u.Get well soon and learn to respect legends and don't compare half baked players like Fabiano with Maradona.
We are confused at first instance - whether Brazil entered into final of World Cup or it was a qualifying match ( between different groups ) for getting berth in World Cup tournament. It is wrong to use "World Cup Finals" at this time.

Mr.Murty.. I am really appalled on hearing such words from you.... When you do not know about a game please refrain from commenting.... This game is part of the South American World Cup Qualifying phase.... Only four teams can qualify... Brazil has qualified as one among the four...

i agree with you. Perhaps, Mr. Murthy and mr kalyanaraman should read about football before commenting on this or alteast follow what's going on in football and not just cricket!

if you were to go back and read the headlines, there is always a possibility that it can be mistaken. a better heading would have been "Brazil books a berth for the world cup". Art of reporting also comprises of unambiguity, irrespective of the level of knowledge of the reader.

Dear Prem, James, Magic, Santhosh - It is not fair to be so harsh on people who are not "experts" like you. As "experts" you should help the novices understand the nuances of the game and semantics of English language. Tell me, whenever you come across someone who is suffering from an ailment, don't you give your "expert" advise on what medicine that person should take even though you don't even know the "M" of Medicine? I am sure there are people within your family who have no clue where Brazil is, forget about Brazil playing football - by the way, do you know? And if you all can afford to laugh at others bcoz ur experts then do you know (and don't google it) what is the diameter and weight of a standard football? Do you know, which country invented football? And do you know why it is called soccer? Do you know the population of Brazil or what religion is followed there?
Before you make fun of anyone, remember, you are an "expert" only at what "you" know and beyond that everyone is a fool.

guest, welcome to the discussion. we weren't laughing at non-experts! It's just appalling that a person who can access rediff and post comments, dont know how to get information from the internet. All the necessary information is out there in the internet. It's just a matter of spending sometime in the internet. If a "non-expert" spends a valuable 5-10 minutes reading about that particular subject of interest in the interet, then he/she would learn about it. wont they?

Guest, that was a perfect reply. Those who know & understand the game should help others understand it rather than making fun of them. James: whenever u r unwell, just search for the medicines on internet rather than visiting a doctor. Everything's available on Internet. Also, Mr. Murty had asked the qstn on this forum which is also on Internet where knowledgeable ppl like u r discussing abt the game. Right? Mr.Santhosh, sorry state of football & sports other than cricket. U r right when u say that. But then it is just bcoz of ppl like u who just criticize rather than helping ppl clear their doubts who r genuinely interested in knowing more abt the game. Criticizing is easy than to make ppl understand. Rather wasting ur time on criticizing u could have cleared his doubts ... Hope u would do it nxt time when someone posts a qstn ...

Pl. stick to cricket if you do not understand football. It is the sad state of sport in this country that is fanaticllay attached to cricket only. Hence we have not been able to dominate other sports

It is world cup "finals" not world cup "final" (note the missing "s"). The World cup tourmament, as we see on TV is the "World cup finals" and the last deciding match is called "World cup Final".

Brazil are the nation which has produced Pele.... a country with a tradition of football in their blood. Maradona was never a great footballer himself and is not a good coach also leading his team to loses.

Dude......agree with the first part............but on "Maradona was never a great footballer"...couldn't disagree more.....u have gotta been kidding me!! Maradona, Pele, Cruyff.......they only come once........& their contribution to football is unparalleled!!

MICHAEL u r in fools world.. maradonna is a great player ever produced he is single handledly led argentinna to win the world cup. pele nowhere close to him.. pele is a selfish player, u can see pele always roaming around other goal post waiting for the pass to make it goal...

"single-handedly" is absolutely correct. that is how Maradona scored in world-cup winning goal against England !!!! of course, he calls it "hand of God" !!
