i have seen the match , in first half india was attacking vigorously and they missed many chance but in second half indian look tired and was giving many chance to syrians.
even in tennis i have seen paes and bhupathi attacking in first 2 sets with great energy but later they just give up , i think we indians lack stamina for long games , if it is overcome than i feel india can be world beater in any game.

is relentless and a tremendous fighter...he has the guts of oliver kahn and brilliance of the great Danish Schimichael... he can play for an european club thats what he deserves right now..
havent seen so much confidence in his/her skill for a long time ...he delivers day in and day out ..its crazy to see his dedication and motivation on the field....hes so consistent with his saves ..its almost a god like ability to save penalties and such close shaves during the matches ...even in the tie breaker the ones he missed he had near 70% accuracy as he jumped on the 'right' side where the ball was directed to when shot..great reflexes and super cool agility
Please support INdian football atleast when its doing great...i remember a time when we were losing to indonesia and thailand i can bet that we can beat them now ...i rmbr a time when we wr playing with 9 players against indonesia with 2 players being sent off and bhaichung doing the goalkeeping duties ....he has run a long lomg mile ..hes a real hero wat if bruno coutinho was there now...we have also fought and won against uzbekistan with him in the team...would havebeen great if we have such players now ...i bet we can beat uzbeks too... we also miss jo paul ancheri , and im vijayan

Media double standards
by sudeep rathore on Sep 01, 2009 10:10 PM

Media creates so much hype that sports other than Cricket are not given enough coverage but TOI placed this Nehru Cup win on the last page. They are partners in crime and cry foul that other sports are not given importance in India. Congrats India and hope India play in world cup soon!!!

We need a Lalit Modi to revolutionise football
by nisha thoas on Sep 01, 2009 09:51 PM

I can't understand why India isnt playing in more Asian level tournaments. We have won 3 asian level titles in 3 yrs and we are ranked lower than Syria and lebanon. We need a Modi, who will surely professionalize soccer here and India will rise upwards

This match was heroic one and must watch
by Murli Devi on Sep 01, 2009 09:33 PM  | Hide replies

This match was purely film type. Full of heroics and with amazin public support never seen earlier. crowd of 25000 overflowed the capacity of Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi, tickets were sold in black and more than 7000 people had to return back without ticket.
Never before such enthu was seen for football.
Football is the real sport not cricket...its the hih time for the government to promote football and brin respect to India as a sporting nation as football is recognized as much bigger sport in world, biggest sport.
Also not to foret the heroic return of the goalkeeper of India after 3 years of ban imposed on him. He was banned because due to his punch an opponent player had died on the spot in his last match. The punch was accidental. And today this man was totally different..without any anger full of spirit and saved trmendous goals for India. Outstanding!
