The Road Ahead looks tough
by Arjun bharatiya on Oct 17, 2009 12:10 PM  | Hide replies

In our country, where non-cricketing sports are traditionally not associated with sporting accolades, Saina Mirza invited lot of media attention and subsequent weight of expectations of a huge nation.

With media attention came fame disproportionate to professional success followed by attention & adulation.

Sania looks like she could not handle fame & adulation well and this began affecting her game.

This is an oft repeated story in India with many young sportsmen.

However there are level-headed young sporting achievers as well like Vishy Anand, Gopichand & Sania Nehwal. Sania Nehwal in particular comes across as a focussed sport-girl inspite of her good looks and has never been in news for non-sporting or wrong reasons.

Sania must take a leaf out of Saina's book if she wants to save her flagging career.

All the best.
Cheers!

Therez a time in every1's career where they need to life themself up lest they should be left in lurch in mediocrity.

Sania, You better do it soon and retire gracefully!

OR

You must know that you have already made your part in Indian tennis history. So, just retire gracefully...

OR

You should start playing Antartica open.. :(

My dear...she is 22 years old...i guess you should watch some sports before commenting here...22 isnt an age to retire..its an age to prosper...May be she isn't winning grand slams...okay not even WTA events..but atleast we Indians have someone to cheer during grand slam singles...if she goes who willtake her place??

My dear is Mr. Noone reaching the semi-finals is not a small achievement. Being able to accomplish what Sania has done is amazing and she has another 4-6 years to do what she has. The problem with people like u is that you have no clue about he sport, about what it takes to achieve what Sania has and yet you shoot your mouth off!

She is distracted by the money and is no longer focussed on her game.

Good Friends and Sania Mirza
by Napalm Death on Oct 17, 2009 11:25 AM  | Hide replies

So once again Sania has been royally thumped by her " good friend".

At this year's US Open she was thumped in the second round by "good friend" Flavia Pennetta 6-0 6-0.

Seems like her "good friends" are not so good after all.

Her progress in any tournamnet heavily depends on the draws...Good that she managed to reach semis this time around. Wishing her a happy and successful married life..
