you funny .. there were many such matches in past. by your logic there has to be replay for each. expecially a world cup semifinal where maradona handball a goal against england. get over with it, its gone over.

not a cheat but definitely an unfair opportunist
by George Varghese on Nov 22, 2009 05:34 PM  | Hide replies

He is a foul opportunist. In the 2006 final he wasn't even touched by the Italian defenders, they only made an aggresive posture against him his path and he seized the opportunity to stage a fall. This earned Zidane an unfair penalty. That final shouldn't even have gone to the Penalties. France were comfortable losers.

Italian team is no better, they are best known divers and cheaters along ,maybe they deserved it.But seriosly who is not a cheat in soccer these days the best thing to do is FIFA and Uefa to amend their laws so that such incidents never happen also better introduce replays.

Varghese u dont follow even a WC final. French were comfortable winners and not losers in 2006 WC final. They dominated the entire play but for 20 minutes in 1st half when they scored the equaliser.

Please see it was not Henry who dived but it was a genuine penalty. See Youtube. France was also denied a genuine penalty whe Malouda was wrongly felled by Zambrotta. It as Buffon's ultimate save off Zidane's header that made Italy WC champs. Zidane's act of lunacy came just after that brilliant save from Buffon.

Mr Dennis... i reiterate the statement that France were comfortable losers in WC'06. Italian are know for their defensive approach, which they did well, while the French are good in attacking and they failed during the final.Zidane fails when comes to sportsmanship.he headbutt Matterazzi when he provoked him with insults,by taking that into a/c his statements supporting Henry should be considered as TRASH.Fair is no applied in Football...Yet. FIFA and UEFA are failed bodies when comes to rules and regulations. If one insults another during a game, then cricket will be a game of WAR, because of sledging.

Search 'materazzi' on you tube, and u'll change ur opinion.Zidane was not the only one he insulted, but Zidane was the only one who had the guts to shut that greasy italian up.Zizou is a legend.Like Zizou said in this interview,'We all make mistakes..'If Maradona had the 'hand of God',Zizou had the 'Headbutt.'
