Poetic Justice Done
by Kiran Joseph on May 28, 2009 09:19 AM  | Hide replies

Three reasons the Barca victory is sweet poetic justice.

1. Football won - the team that played true football, in Pep's own words which is 'clear as water' won the day with their outstanding performance, especially in midfield. Hats off to Iniesta, Xavi and also their makeshift defenders in Sylvian and Toure.

2. Humility won - do you know that Barca have no shirt sponsor and actually donate money to Unicef instead of getting money from AIG? When it was decided that MU will wear white, and when a reported pointed out to Fergie that the last time Barca played a team in white (Real) they routed them 6-2. Fergie just laughed it off. This typifies a certain air of invincibility that is not reflective of ground realities. Ever noticed Fergies face when MU are going through the grind - he's all flush pink and on the edge. One could be a grand victor, but humility in victory is graceful.

3. Fans brought down to earth - I've noticed a certain invincibility feeling in the average MU fan, and not too long ago were the talks of the, what was that - QUINTUPLE??? Respect your opposition and don't cr@p on them. The Patrice Evra 'boys versus men' comment typifies this attitude, and lets not forget that Arsenal play like Barca - free flowing football. I've seen Chelsea and Pool being lambasted on sites, especially for their defensive displays. What's so wrong in playing defensive, especially when MU itself has such a long list of grinding 1-0 victories in the league. Adios amigos!

good points. humility is another lesson that was taught by people to political outfits this election season. bjp had to swallow pride, same with the regional parties. the regional parties had it real bad. before the election they were all fighting to be the king maker and were busy making calculations as to much they could extract in a bargain. SP/amar singh, JDS/ gowda, BSP/mayawati, left/karat, etc etc...!

good points...Pep is a very good coach..and i really liked the way some days back he praised his players on winning the La Liga... He reportedly said.."These are great players. I will not be a champion without them but they will definitely be, without me"
Even heard of a thing like this from SAF or that foul mouthed Mourinho

good points, absolutely right. Irrespective of who wins the matches, let me tell, Man U team is an egoistic team with some exceptions,

Pool defensive style? Come on which club has scored the maximum number of goals this time? Liverpool is an out and out attacking team.

Barcelona are the European power house

ManU are a highly over-rated team as evident from this champions league title clash. Ferguson is a loser who thinks he is always smarter than others. This lose should put the old egoistic man in his place and he should retire rather than showing up in any matches chewing his gums.

Kudos.... The Team with Cool Head Won.
by Akshay Panthaki on May 28, 2009 09:09 AM

Can't sy much except better luck next time Man U. Being a fan of Man U would really love to see them win the Championship as I think this would have been the only team wining the championship thrice (an achievement in itself) but it was not to be. Now the big test for Barca... they need to keep the same sprit the next time around. The coolhead and calm team won it but will it be the same the next time or will it be IPL repeat (RR losing out this time .. Champs of the last season). Well it's pretty funny , but then such is it. Till then savour the glory Barca... Way to go. and for my favourite team Man U.. Try harder the next time.. failures are stepping stones to succcess.

Though MAN-U is completed as the best team in
UEFA with the best striker christiano ronaldo,
but I respect the spirit and the cool Barcelona kept while competing with the champions.

Admire the will shown by the man u in holding their own against greatest champion team barca. But their skill was much inferior to the champion team barca

bju, pls remember if u hv seen the barca chelsea semi finals, did barca look the team to win the CL?, man u missed opportunities in first 8 mins after that they just cudnot come back, it doesnot mean they are an overrated side, it is just that they had a bad day but barca also played better, teams playing against champions do give their best, hard luck to man u and fergie, congrats to barca and pep. ultimately we witnessed a good game of soccer

yeah, Man U were thoroughly outclassed. Messi revealed his genius while C. ronaldo proved to be a jerk. Manager Fergie cut a sorry sight

I dont agree that Ronaldo was pathetic...he had an outstanding first ten minutes. It was the midfield which couldnt take control of things..As a result the likes of Rooney and Ronaldo were left by themselves. Anderson couldnt get hold of the ball, Giggs was missing and Carrick had a really bad game. The first goal punched the air out of their lungs. Thats when Barca midfield took control and neva let go from there on. Also u couldnt see the never say die spirit from Manu players after the first goal....Blame it totally on the midfield. Patrice evras overlapping runs were also missing...wsjust not their day

And I do not think Messi did all that great ....It was the midfield that one it for Barca

Man U lost, but still they played football, not rugby like chelsea..From next yr, this chelsea should be banned..either they learn to play football and not kickboxing, then only they should be allowed.
It was a match between 2 best teams, and barca won...however, it was also a match between a true genius and an over-rated arrogant jerk, and the genius won..as simple as that
