That Federer is having to say it in so many words, is sufficient to prove that he is low on confidence; as if we did not know it!
My advice to him would be: Forget about rattling Nadal. First sort out Murray and Djokovic.

Nadal the great

On head to head record nadal is much better player than federer and one should gracefully agree it. The reasons like federer mental block, confidence are just lame and absolute thrash. Players at that level need no lessons on these.
Federer thrashes rodick almost every time they met. I am roddick fan and can i say roddick has mental block or something non sense as reasons ...

Nadal's advantage

Problem for federer is Nadal can play his strength to Federer's weakness. Nadal invariably attacks federer's backhand with his chest highing forhands shots.

spot on, suresh! i think that should put an end to all arguements related to mental toughness. its as simple as that- high spinning forehands with the leftie's natural angle to Fed's backhand, admitedly his weaker side!

roger was is and will be the best of all.well he is a complete player and has got nothing to prove.roger is going thru a lil tough time nothing else and it happend to gr8 players like tiger woods and thierry henry as he is human.was v close to winning aust and wimbledon and beatingsampras record but m sure this year he will do it.as far as sampras is concerned was a legend but never went past QF in french and its only roger who went upto the finals last year and clay court is a god damn slow court whc req a baseline game and m sure nadal will loose someday as no one can be unbeated all are bound to be beaten one day and this time will be verdasco or roger to give him raw nights and one more time ROGER IS THE BEST ON THE PLANET............

When he started having competition, he started getting rattled. He is lucky to be playing when there was no strong opponent. More like Steffi till monica came along.

rattle Nadal, says Federer

People who know tennis better can understand this.Base line game needs fast, quick and energy which is available plenty with the youth.Serve and volley games needs elegance, style. So,a good baseliner can win till they loose their youth.Fed is a baseliner and he is loosing to other younger youth players.Nadal will start loosing after 2 or 3 years when he finds a player younger to him. So,I am sure fed can never come back to win tournaments. It is all over for him with age advancing corelating with his game style. All cannot be samprass whose style of play is serve & Volley.

This is very common
by abhisek bhaduri on May 11, 2009 07:50 PM

This is a very common syndrome. Nothing new about it. A bunch of talents come up over a close 2 -3 yrs. time frame, one or two of them are always better than the rest and the take the center stage...One or the of them rules over a few years and then they start failing and someone else comes up and takes the mantle. This is the common cycle and has been happening for decades...we as fans have short term memory and all of a sudden think that the curent winner is god and the best that has ever come up...that's not the case...There was a time till recent years when Sampras was considered the best ever player...his time expired and up came Fedex

Every stardom has an expiry period...but a true star will always shine before taking a bow...the process has begun for Fedex..he is a genuine champ and so will carry on for the next 2 - 3 years winning some and losing some and then will exit...He'll not be able to control the game as he did once...thats reality....That has happened to all teh greats whom most of us have seen playing since our childhood such as Connors, McEnroe, Lendl, Becker, Edberg, Agassi, Sampras...The only one who retired when at very good and dominating form perhaps was Borg!!!
