Chelsea played negative game
by Gopakumar N on May 07, 2009 06:12 PM

Chelsea was playing negative football. Keep 10 people to defend and make Drogba run for a long ball. But they knew if given some space Barca would kill them with 6 away goals.

Barca won !! I am happy !! Who cares about the fouls referee has not seen.

When the aggregate is same, the away goal rule comes into play. Bracelona scored an away goal at Cehlsea, hence they go through.

The real Messi is now clear to all!
by nisha thoas on May 07, 2009 02:58 PM  | Hide replies

Messi showed nothing when he's up against the defenders of the class of Terry and Alex. He bullies malaga, recreativo and other weak teams but when against English defenders, he's a nervous wreck. Watch him against Rio and Vidic and u see what i mean. Ronaldo the best by a mile!Did u all see him sprint from one end of the pitch to the other to score his 2nd goal yday? A player with class, power and pace.

totally agreed chelsea wer unlucky, messi cannot do good against englsih clubs at all, even last yaar he was kept quiet by manutd.Barca r without both their wing backs for the finals,so its a mark shift defence, man utd r gonna so rape them on the counter.Plus, anderson will not allow them to dominate in the midfeild.Mark my words Man utd r goona teach barca a lesson or 2 in playing proper technical football.

Did you see the game Nisha? Messi was making Terry and Alex round around in circles... Barcelona had possession for 68% of the time. Yes they did not have any shots at goal for 92 minutes..... but if you intend to have 9 goalkeepers than even Maradona or Pelo could not have had any shots at goal

Well nisha, Ronaldo has been scoring goals in the English league for over 5 years now.
If that is the yardstick that you chose to compare then I would be really interested to know how many goals he has scored against Italian teams who are widely considered and rightly so to be the masters of parking the bus in front of their goal?

The Refrees made the way for the Catalans
by sandy menon on May 07, 2009 02:45 PM  | Hide replies

The Blues truly deserved to win, they played much better than the 1st Leg and their defense was superb. Barcelona had most of the ball possession but they were so into just passing and not shooting on the Target, infact the only target they managed to get is with Iniesta's Goal.Chelsea on the other hand had some golden chances, drogba was not at his best Adding to Chelsea's woes was the villains - The refree. It was clearly seen, there were atleast 2 penalties, including the 2 handballs in the BOX. Even at the end after Iniesta scored the goal, chelsea had a chance with the corner and the ball had touched Eto's arm which was not taken into consideration by the refree, and for which when Ballack tried to interfere, he was given a yellow card.Anyways Poor Chelsea, they didnt deserve this.
Next match is gonna be hard - Barcelona are without Doni Alves,Marquez,Abidal(All 3 outstanding defence)& Incase if any of the other players get injured by then..that's it!

Now that you talk of penalities - then why dont you speak about the penalty that was not awarded to Barcelona in Nou Camp when Henry was pulled and brough down. At the end the better team won.

Chelsea should hang their heads in shame for the brand of footbal that they played what the commentators called Back-9.

Yeah sure, by the way Barcelona didnt WIN, They drew the match and the frustration was obviously seen on the Barelona guys. You talking about Henry, here in this match there were atleast 3 to 4 clear Penalties! You seem to be a hardcore fan of the Catalans, good luck for you for the finals!!Barcelona have a tough job without the KEY PLAYERS. Understand soccer dude, its not about one team
and DONT GET DEFENSIVE, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT FOOTBALL.I Honestly believe Barcelona have a great team but yesterday they were overshadowed by Chelsea and the opportunities they created says a lott!

dude, it was Chelsea's inability to score two goals that cost them the match....and to add to that a game plan that can at best be described as a gamble as Chelsea rightly found out.

Chelsea were negative in the first leg and THAT cost them the match.
And if you really want to consider the "ifs and buts " then a penalty in the first leg were it given and had it been scored would have changed everything.

I just hope that they come up with a better approach next time with more civilized players on the field and not actors like Drogba(Disgrace!!!!)

PS: WE HAD 70% of the possession over BOTH LEGS AND THAT TELLS IN A BIG WAY WHICH TEAM WERE SUPERIOR

chelsea were unlucky in not getting at least 1 penalty, h'ever they palyed a good game of football after first 20 mins when barca were flowing, drogba was in his best form. unfortunately there are errors that the refs make after all at ground level without replays it is a tough task. feel soory for chelsea. now man u will play against barca, n am sure man u will win the cl.
