The Greatest ever?
by Guest on Aug 14, 2009 11:37 AM

What a somersault by Nadal.... only 3 and 1/2 months ago he was having a lead of about 5000 points over Federer and now in second spot trailing Federer by about 2000 points..
This article also says Nadal crushes Soderling and its a paradox that the same player had caused Nadal's downfall.

Nadal has a lead of about 5000 points over Federer. Those who are not willing to consider Nadal for the Greatest ever, may please answer this simple question: When was Federer 5000 points ahead of the no. 2 man?

first...let nadal reach 13 slams..then we'll talk about greatest ever. That means that he has to win all slams including australian open 2011 to equal him. And for all you know, there is a kid there somewhere who is practising his forehands with even more topspin and is even more fitter than nadal waiting for his chance to play and beat him. Tennis is not constant.
second...there is a change in the points system this year (points are doubled)...thats why there is more discrepancy...
third...5000 may seem a lot but it can be reduced easily if Federer gets some tournament wins in. Remember Nadal has almost everything to defend after this because of his brilliant run last year.

aishwarya i absolutely agree that nadal is the greatest ever because he is winning on all courts unlike federer who is a grass court specialist.

Who said Federer was a Grasscourt Specialist? He lost to Nadal last year and almost lost to him the year before.
Does he have a better volley than Nadal?
Does he have the big booming serve of Becker or Sampras? In the Australian Open Final, he was struggling to put a decent serve in.
When did Federer become a Grasscourt specialist?
For that matter, even Borg, who like Federer won 5 consecutive titles at Wimbledon, was not a Grasscourt specialist. His confusion was removed the moment he was faced with a genuine Grasscourt expert in McEnroe, just like Federer has been brought to Earth by Nadal.

Agreed....and add to it the humility shown by Nadal even after defeating Fedex again and again and again. Though it's too early to call him the greatest ever, Nadal certainly is greater than Federer.
